18. The beast must be fed Mr Bush. It calls for your daughters
You called this monster up, it now demands the blood of innocents, your daughters will do in a pinch.

2. I'm not sure this article is entirely fair
Barbara is known for spending large amounts of money at fashion shows and for going to nude parties at Yale, where it was not made clear whether or not she was drunk. And they also manage to buy expensive presents for their father (e.g., a Segway) with no apparent source of income.

8. Trust Funds?
Don't these kids have trust funds? Is that why they don't seem to work or at least don't talk about the fact that they work or what they do for a living? Would they just end up paying taxes on income they don't need if they worked? I don't know. Just asking.

12. Hmm I wonder if Barbara is an alcoholic.
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 01:30 PM by cliss
I've read some pretty solid evidence that Jenna is an alcoholic like her dad. But I haven't read much about the other daughter.

Alcoholism is a family disease - it runs in families. It's not the end of the world, but both these girls should seek help before it has a chance to cause enormous damage in their lives. And they need to break with Dad and not waste time buying him expensive gifts with no apparent source of income. That's just being Dad's enabler.

On a lighter note, can you imagine George asking his girls to sign up?

Bush: (comes into the room, girls are watching TV) Girls, I want you to consider joining the Army. I'm under a lot of pressure about being a hypocrite. People are saying that if it's a noble cause, why aren't you two signing up?

Jenna: (looks at Barbara) Why should we go? There are lots of other people who should go. What about Dick's daughters. Or Karl's?

Bush: You know Dick's kids are too old. You two are more, shall we say, visible?

Barbara: (whispers to Jenna) I think we should go out shopping. Dad's on one of his jags again.

4. After declining Army enlistees for months Bush made a point to
mention the Army met it's goals in July, thereby, showing in a backhanded way, a show of support for his war(he thinks). Truth is there are probably many reasons the Army goals were met in July which may not include anything with the war. But that's a story for the statisticians. If the President is happy young kids can go and die, he should explain why that doesn't apply to his daughters. and just so I am clear here. I don't support anyone signing up to fight in Iraq and that means anyone. But Bush created this slaughter and he should answer to it.

7. I would think that July
would be the easiest month of the year to meet their goals. High School graduates that have no plans for college have had the summer months to realize the jobs of their dreams aren't exactly plentiful.

Many of their friends are college bound, if they are lucky enough to be able to afford it. And, with all those lovely promises they are fed at the recruitment offices, it could be hard to resist. Especially the idea that you will have the training of your choice, and serve far away from combat. :eyes:

Let's see what the numbers look like this next couple months. If Smirk doesn't mention them, we will know why.

13. That was what I was thinking. Enlist in July and report in August.
It gives high school grads on last summer.

9. From the article:
So here's a question I think a White House reporter should ask the president: "if your own two daughters won't enlist, how can you expect anyone else's children to join the military?"

Uhh, that's a question that could have been asked PRIOR to the invasion of Iraq.

11. Rated and emailed.
All the children of politicians and talking heads who pimp the war should be included in this piece. It shouldn't be limited to **. McCain has lots of kids - some of them have to be military age. Mike Gallagher has already been mentioned. jeb has three. I'm sure there are more...

26. Could it be they are not enlisting because the uniforms are not designed
by Badgley Mischka, Lela Rose, Derek Lam and Oscar de la Renta?

MISS JENNA BUSH AND MISS BARBARA BUSH

Miss Jenna Bush and Miss Barbara Bush selected Badgley Mischka, Lela Rose, Derek Lam and Oscar de la Renta to create their Inaugural attire. Miss Barbara Bush will wear a Badgley Mischka pale aquamarine silk chiffon gown with jeweled straps and ruffled seamed skirt to the Texas State Society "Black Tie and Boots" Inaugural Ball.
