Think of how impossible it is for Catholics and Protestants |
|
to come together. They both consider their differences fundamental and irreconcilable, if you know something about it. Alleged Mary worship, infallibility of the Pope, etc. There are centuries of spilled blood between them. Now imagine you put together a bunch of Sunnis and a bunch of Shia and give a deadline for them to come up with a Constitution. There is a lot of recent spilled blood between them and one side (Sunni) do not think Mohammed's sons are prophets. I tell you - it is impossible for these guys to come up with anything. The only way they could do something is to draft a totally secular Constitution (like the US Constitution), and totally separate religion from politics. Asking too much? Obviously.
People, there ain't gonna be a Constitution. Ever. What is going to happen? Two choices:
1) A bloody civil war until all parties are exhausted.
2) A UN-supervised ethnic cleansing with breakup of Iraq into three countries.
Thanks dubya.

an Independent Kurdish state in the north (these are the reasonable people we would be dealing with in the region. Turkey would make a stink at first, but with kurds controlling the northern oil fields and the southern states constantly bickering, the oil would flow north and the money they would make would shut the turks and the kurd up for the foreseeable future) and a sunni state in the southwest (probably a puppet state of Saudi Arabia) and a shiite state in the south east, where all their religious sites are (probably a puppet state of Iran) and maybe a loosely formed federal army overseeing all three ala the United Arab Emirates.
