Boxer calls for your $$$$ in support of Bill Nelson
:wtf:

Being an incumbent is no lock on the Party's nomination for re-election. I fail to see why Barbara Boxer would be supporting Nelson, he may as well be a rethug!

=================

Received by email

A few weeks ago, I told you about my friend Debbie Stabenow who is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Michigan. Thanks to your generous support, PAC for a Change contributed $10,000, the maximum we can give, to her campaign -- $5,000 for the primary and $5,000 for the general election.

Well today I'd like to spend just a few minutes talking about another Senate colleague who is up in 2006, and urge you to join me in working as hard as possible for his re-election: Senator Bill Nelson of Florida.

I've gotten to know Bill Nelson quite well through our work together on the Foreign Relations and Commerce committees. He is a tremendous public servant, committed to giving everything he's got for his constituents. I value his friendship and his dedication to the people of Florida.

First elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1972, Bill Nelson went on to serve as a U.S. Congressman, Florida Treasurer, and Florida Insurance Commissioner before his election to the Senate in 2000.

Senator Nelson has been a major proponent of our nation's space program, even spending six days on the Space Shuttle as a Congressman. He shares my commitment to the environment: protecting the Florida coastline and the Everglades, a national treasure, are very important issues for him, all Floridians, and all Americans. In addition, Senator Nelson has been a vocal supporter of Social Security and Medicare, as well as defending Americans' right to buy prescription drugs from Canada to make them more affordable.

It's absolutely critical that we work together to return Bill Nelson to the Senate next November -- because the choices in the election couldn't be more stark.

Just last week, Republican Congresswoman Katherine Harris -- the same Katherine Harris whose partisan antics as Secretary of State helped deliver the White House for President Bush in 2000 even though he lost the popular vote -- formally announced her intention to run against Senator Nelson next November.

Katherine Harris' entrance into the Florida Senate race will unleash millions of Republican special interest dollars -- dollars that will undoubtedly be spent to smear Bill Nelson's record of accomplishment.

That's why it's so important that we join together to help Bill Nelson, starting right now:

Contribute to PAC for a Change today -- so we can support Bill Nelson now and all the way through Election Day next November!

I also hope you'll take a moment to visit Senator Nelson's campaign website, and sign up to join his team.

Thanks for your help and support!

In Friendship,
Barbara Boxer

2. It's no lock...
....but they want to hold on to the seat. An internal battle for the nomination would likely contribute to a GOP win.

is a hell of a lot better than BEN Nelson of Nebraska---you talk about a damned DINO--that's the Repub in Dem clothing.

Are you sure you didn't get your "Nelsons" mixed-up?

5. Both Nelsons are DINO's
I'd like to see a centerest/populist make a primary challenge.

7. Find a primary challenger
Fund that person and hope he can knock off Nelson. You can't expect Boxer and the DSCC to send you letters saying fund a Nelson primary challenge. If you want to beat this guy you and the rest of the grassroots are going to have to do it yourself.

11. Would if I were in Florida
Love to, but I'm taking care of the local, state and regional scenes, national every 4 years. Don't have the personal resources to take care of Florida business, that's for the Florida progressives to do!

You can take both Stabinow and Nelson and replace them with Republicans and the party would be better off for it....

Maybe if the party realized that say, 5 years ago, the Dems might not be irrelevant today....

10. What's not to understand? Katherine Harris is running. Diebold is cheating
Gonna take a whole lot of $$$ to overcome those odds. Better start saving up now. Any Dem who is too "pure" to support Nelson might as well switch to a third party and start voting protest, which is better than being a grumbling, stay at home Democrat.
