"Slippery Slope" defense should be renamed by us to |
|
the "Chicken Little" defense.
Isn't it amazing how the Repukes claim that we're the ones causing (and then claiming) the "slippery slope", yet they indulge in that logic to scare people away from stuff that could help this country?
I can see an example.
Generic person: "You know, people should actually come to a stop at a red light."
Republican: "Oh, sure, why don't you just take away my car and make me walk everywhere? Why don't you force me to stay in bed? You damn liberals trying to get big government into everything!"
Of course, when we question the consequences of a right-wing takeover action, we are accused of bringing down civilization . . .

1. Similarly, the "unintended consequences" argument |
|
that social programs are big and complicated, and as big complicated action always have disastrous unintended consequences.
Nobody talked about that when tearing down and rebuilding Iraq. We can construct a civil society from the ground up, but can't run a postal service?
