The other side's statement (Sheehans)
I was tracking back trying to find info on this - and ran across this quote from the "aunt/godmother"......

". . . Mrs. Quarterolo confirms that Cindy's actions have been extremely hurtful. "We're coming unglued. We can't walk down the street without people stopping us and telling us that they agree with Cindy. We do not." (italics added)

I'm sure it IS hurtful to hear the truth that this war is a sham and that that beautiful boy - and thousands more - died for nothing.

1. They're just jealous of all the attention Cindy is getting ...
so they've made themselves tools of the rightwing wackjobs. Now, tell me again, WHICH SIDE has the "ulterior motive"?

6. I'm sure they are hurt
it hurts to have people reiterate over and over how their loved one died in vain.

7. it's that
tilt-your-head-sideways way of thinking those pubs are able to do.

YOu know, the hold-two-completely-contradictory-thoughts-in-your- head-at-one-time sort of thing.

4. Ahhhhhhhh
It was hurtful to turn on the teevee and have them still call Bush president after 11/2/04. It's still hurtful everyday I read the paper or hear any news about Iraq. Maybe they should just ignore it? (again with the it doesn't exist, people!) When I think of innocents tortured in my name, it's rather troubling too. It's just knowing about it apparently that's the problem. Welcome to the world of pain, it's where the sentient beings are, Mrs. Quarerolo.

10. having your beliefs
challenged is difficult enough without having them completely trashed. How can they look at themselves in the mirror every morning if they admit that they let that boy - and others - die for that moran residing in the WH?

11. Who's the mom and who isn't?
I'm a guy and a father, but even I realize that as much as I love my daughter, my ex-wife gave birth and there is a bond that no one else can have with a child. The nerve of these distant relatives to enter into the argument, and not even back up the mom. Sickening. The Republican party has to be destroyed and the real conservatives put back in power. They believe in decency and honesty and real debate. These thugs don't care about anything.

The chant "We don't care" sounds just like the punks in the 70s (We're pretty vacant and we don't care - The Sex Pistols) without the irony.

I think this reaction against Cindy is shaming the more moderate, who understand the war was a lie and a lot of kids have died for nothing, and that a mom has a right to complain about it. You can see how much this is hurting the nazis by the level of their screeching and their increasingly hysterical attacks on Cindy. So, she's getting divorced? Do they know how many people get divorced shortly after a child dies? It's one of the great side effects of a child's death; the parents' misery is so great that they can't talk to each other anymore without feeling worse.

My daughter came close to dying in January. On the way to the hospital, all I could think is, can I go on living if she dies? I know I sure didn't WANT to. Fortunately, the snow and sleet on the road cushioned her fall and she didn't hit her head, somehow, after being hit by a truck going 35 MPH, dead on.

I don't think we can usefully have a conversation with these fascists anymore. We have to do what we did in the 60s, just marginalize them. And they are doing a great job of helping us.

12. you're a rare man
to feel that way about your ex-wife.

I think you're right about some people feeling shamed by Cindy's stance. And we all know how bushieboy feels about being "shamed". I don't believe he'd ever have the courage to meet with her.

I don't think I could live if something happened to my kids. Though if it were one I suppose I'd have to for the others. God don't even make me think about that.

I'm glad you're daughter's okay.
