Who saw Sy Hersh on The Daily Show last night?
Makes me so sick that he has to be on the "fake news" show while all the usual suspects keep turning up all over cable news repeating the same old schlock.

It's getting really scary folks.
Catch the re-run if you missed it last night.

1. Scared the crap
out of me..............:scared:

I think his exposure of the possible invasion/attack of Iran a few months ago may have actually PREVENTED the actual attack from taking place.

I am worried about Iran talking to Venezuela...we could end up being a third world country if our oil supplies got cut off....

2. Yep. The Iran/Venezuela talks were a surprise to me
so we should watch what happens to Venezuela very closely.

an unprecedented joint military exercise at this moment?

The nations of the world are forming alliances among themselves to discourage a pre-emptive invasion by the US. It's like "Survivor" on a global scale!

ETA: He also stated that the new king of Saudi Arabia has a beef about the US position on the Infantida (a group tied into the Isreali-Palestinian issue). This new Saudi jerk may not be so willing to insure that the US continues to get the same amount of oil from Saudi Arabia.

15. I didn't know about "alliances" but I've read about their oil dealings
and knew that couldn't be far behind.

I've been trying to educate people about Iraq and Iran making a military agreement since first week in July.

You never hear that mentioned to the public.

3. Until our government learns to behave,
we SHOULD be a third-world country. Weapons and oil are not safe in the hands of this government.

4. Except that they're still making bigger, better, nastier weapons
all the time - lots fairly recently.

Getting ready to fight an even bigger war for oil? God help us.

21. Yeah, I was thinking to myself: so much the better for the whole
rest of the planet! Sounds only right to me. That's where the big boys (globalization and free trade folks) want us to go anyway. I'm not sure why, seems to me having a nice middle class everywhere in the world is better than a nice, impoverished peasantry, but that really answers its own question: an EDUCATED citizenry wouldn't put up with what they want to do.

20. No thats not why there has been a delay
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 12:54 PM by rfrrfrrfr
The delay in attacking Iran is due to a couple of things.

First Bolton's nomination got bogged down. Bush can't go ahead with his plans without a loyal stooge in the UN to pitch his scam.

Second Iran and Europe were in the middle of negotiations. Bush couldn't do anything until that had run its course. Which with Irans rejection of the European proposal it now has.

Third Iran had to restart its uranium enriching process. Which I think they are close to doing if I remember right.

The reason June/July time frame was put forth By Hersh and Ritter was that was when Iran was supposed to recieve the Russian uranium shipment, which they did, and That was also the time frame for which the Europe/Iranian Negotiations were expected to wind up.

Additionally they never stated we would attack in June/July. What they said was that plans had been prepared and signed off on by the President to be ready to attack in June/July.

Bush still has some political hoops he has to jump through, mostly at the UN, to try and justify unilateral action by the US on Iran. That process will take at least a couple more months to go through now that the other pieces finally fell into place.

7. One thing I'll disagree with you on
As bad as the MSM is, they don't keep Hersh off. He does get a fair amount of "face time" on the news networks.

8. I've seen him, maybe twice, on MSNBC - nowhere else. Now he has a book
to sell -- that may get him seen more. The book is about Abu Ghraib "Chain of Command" but he didn't even talk about that with Jon Stewart - just the future. I hope he manages to do the same if he gets face time on major networks.

Where have you seen him?

9. Usually after one of his articles he goes on a lot of shows
Even Faux News has him on.

It's not that he isn't allowed on. The real problem is that he's so unusual. He's basically just a really good and honest reporter. The fact that he seems so different shows how shallow the rest of the media is.

10. You are correct sir.
I have to admit I did see him take on Fox once.

And right again about the shallow media - they stick to the safe bets who will have the usual answers to face off against each other.

Let's hope some of these bad Bush ratings and whistleblower items and Fitzpatrick events blow that open soon!

13. He was on when it came out in hardback some time ago. Now it's
out in paperback so he was on for the second time.

that's why they didn't talk that much about the contents of the book, rather they talked about what the contents have led to.

27. It just came out in paperback
which is why Sy was on TDS last night. IIRC, the first words from Jon's mouth were a plug of the paperback edition.

on his mind, I think.

What's he get to talk, maybe 8 minutes or so? It's a damn shame.
