Was just listening as well -- usually no fan of Ed's but I'm really warming up to the guy, I have to admit!

Since Rush uses Ed in his press releases, what excuse could he give to not debate him FOR THE TROOPS???

4. I'm listening to Big Eddie and he's cracking me up!
Said that "$50 million dollar a year Rush Limbaugh" is too concerned with poor Eddie way up there in the northwoods of Fargo and should worry about his own problems.. :rofl:

Evidently, Rush keeps cranking out press releases with Eddie's name in them.

I think Rush is worried about how fast Big Ed's show is growing compared his own when it initially launched. (Ed just quoted the stats between the two.. If it keeps up at the rate it's going, Eddie will take over Oxy-inhaler soon.. He already beat him in Denver and Miami)

~~~~ Rock on Eddie !!! :yourock: ~~~~
Maybe it was the Email I sent to ABC or the several MILLION others they probably received stating if Pillboy shows on MNF then I NEVER watch again. He wasn't hired,Dennis Miller was.
ESPN decided to buck the odds and go with that asshole and then cut him loose in a week or so--most likly over the Donovan McNabb smear that fatass did on him.
40. I remember Oxycontin Boy making derogatory remarks about gay men and lesbi
lesbians on his nat'l radio and TV shows back in the 90s. Then a contingent from GLAAD (and others) confronted him on his TV show once merely by showing up in the audience. I heard he sweated bullets that time.
Not one fucking penny drop in the price locally. Its only funny because if it would have gone from $67 to 70 there would have been another .10-.15 jump in the price like its done for the last three weeks almost daily.
Nah,its not price gouging,screwing the customer,fucking us over. Its just good ole' capitalism at work.
I realize he now has a Pain Management Physician who is medicating Rush to levels adequate enough to where he no longer needs to doc shop.
But damn- with heavy duty Schedule II narcotics like Oxycontin, his liver is going to look like wet pudding before long (if his ticker holds out that long).. :silly:
The drug of choice he became addicted to will eventually take him down. Pretty sad, but no one will ever be able to say he didn't know the risks! :nopity:
24. Big Ed has been so great
these past few weeks. He sounds a bit like Rush. I'm hoping a few confused ditto heads will tune into him by mistake and be deprogrammed accidentally.
He challenged Rush to a debate on Pay Per View and asked would we all be willing to send in $10 to watch him and Rush go at it. He said to let him know if we would.
Rush stinks on television. His other TV show failed also, several years ago. As well as the sports show.
He will NEVER debate anyone if he can't control the mike ~
But I think we should make a big issue out of this ~ force him to show his stupid followers how cowardly he is. Someone should make bumper stickers, it's time to drag these cowards out into the sunlight. I don't know why it didn't happen a long time ago. Ed would wipe the floor with him.
And while we're at it, Cindy should challenge Bush to a public debate on the war. She's right next door, the media is there. They go on the radio.
Btw, Ed had Cindy on the phone, but her cell phone kept cutting out. He's on his way to Crawford, and said he's very close, already in Texas!!
today I liked it when he had the freeper vet on the line, and started shouting at him "You guys have no endgame! All you have is pie in the sky!"
Vet issues is why Big Eddie became a Dem, or at least they were what got him to thinking. So it makes sense that he blows his stack when it comes to veterans/wars and goes all out in covering someone like Cindy.
That would be something to watch. I don't think Rush would last long.
I agree, it should not be on the radio. Ed said he'd like it to be on Pay Per View and send the proceeds to the troops. How could Rush refuse that challenge? Refuse to make money for the troops?
I hope Ed keeps challenging him ~ while Cindy has Bush hiding out in Crawford, Ed will have Rush afraid to answer his phone on the air, in case someone might slip through asking him why he won't 'support the troops' and debate Big Ed on television ~ :rofl:
And Ed never gets that pompous sound in his voice. That's one of the things that makes me wanna smack Rush, the lisp when he's talking about liberals or the way he pronounces Jesse Jackson etc.
Ed doesn't resort to that. He does yell at the occasional caller though, esp if he's got a freeper on the line. He fairly screamed at a freeper who was trying to justify torture, calling him unAmerican.
I didn't like Ed at first, thinking he was a bit of a fraud. How wrong I was. He is the voice of the hard-working, bridge-building, road-salting, truck-driving Democrat. He speaks to those the Democratic party leaders once counted on but now seem to have forgotten.
Ed is everyman. He's your mechanic, your grocer, your golfing buddy. He's the guy down the street. People like Ed can change more minds than a thousand Frankens or Garofalos. Ed's real.
60. I agree ...
I like Franken/Garofalos and Rhodes ... I think they are dead on with a lot of their stuff ... BUT, pretty much everyone on Air America almost revels in being immature, and that just is NOT going to swing anyone knew in ...
Ed is DEFINITELY a guy they need ... As you noted, the rural guy, talking fishing and all ...
I REALLY find it intriguing, the thought of Ed going against Rush, and as someone else noted, Rhodes against O'Reilly ... I can't see how Shulz would not clock Limbaugh, who really is an idiot, and while O'Reilly knows his stuff, Rhodes does, too, and would not back down one bit from him ...
As noted, NEITHER of the two would line up for the fight, but it WOULD be worth pushing the issue, to have them be the ones who would be not stepping up ...
62. Ed's got "real appeal"
Rush's problem is he doesn't care at all about facts. He has his talking points fed to him by Scaife's and Norquist's think-tanks. At $50 million per year, what does he need with facts?
Big Eddie isn't big on facts either, but the difference is he doesn't pretend that he knows everything. He simply approaches issues with moral clarity and common sense. It's a beautiful thing.
BTW, don't misunderstand me...I love Al and Janeane. I listen to them all the time and find them entertaining and informative. It's just that they speak to a far narrower segment than Ed Schultz.
As for Randi Rhodes, other than her talking over people too much, the woman can do no wrong. She cares about facts and is honest with her listeners when she isn't up on them. I just wish she'd get on a stage with Ann Coulter...Ann the Man wouldn't last ten seconds before she ran screaming into Hannity's arms.
because I had seen a lot of people here bitch about Shultz but when I heard him for the first time a few months ago (right when the Rove story seemed to be picking up steam) I thought he was doing a great job.
I like Al Franken but his show often bores me and Randi just plain annoys me. I've heard Malloy only a little and liked him, but Shultz certainly has wider appeal.
He won't take the bait though; he couldn't win under ANY circumstances, cuz he's holding NO cards; nearly EVERYTHING he says is a delusional lie...
What a blowhard... let's face it, nobody blows harder than Rush.
excerpt from my essay
Some Folks I Profoundly Distrust
Rush Limbaugh - To this day he remains one of the most amazing founts of misinformation out there, mostly because of the freakishly large blowhole located on his face-thing... he uses this aperture to spew poisonous bile in a wide semi-circle all around him whenever he feels threatened, which is always... though I realize that, from a biological view, he's quite a rarity, unique to nature, my wise primitive instincts make me want to club him like a baby seal, for the sake of everyone... and I know within my heart that he wants this too... somewhere deep inside that huge bloated exterior is a tiny little baby that no one ever loved enough, cuz it was such a hateful little shit...
(snip)
Other targets of my highly suspicious mind include the blivet**, Brit Hume and Tony Snow (as one entity, mind ya), Nazi Doctor Laura Schlesinger and The Good Folks at Nike... read the rest at
64. I believe it's a huge mistake to give Rush additional air time..
The airwaves are a public asset, which means they should not be bought and sold like a car or house. Unfortunately public air time is now treated as a private monopoly under the law, and this is why liberals should never mention Rush's name on the air! If we do..it should only be in direct reference to his many character flaws, not to challenge him honorably to debate or in reference to Clear channel.
Let Rush challenge Ed or Mike to a debate, but why provide this speedaddict with any free publicity? I have no problem with big Ed or Mike Malloy accepting a challenge to debate Rush, just don't let these neocons hog even more of the public airwaves than their dollars will allow!!
