Breaking - 700 82nd Airborne Troops going to Iraq. WHY??
Hmmm ... highly trained crack paratroops being sent to Iraq, for assistance in voting? right!

Let's see, which country shares a border with Iraq??? Iran, yeah that's right Iran is right next door.

somebody has go in there after the airstrike and make sure we took out the defenses.

1. Because they didn't clap for Bush's Iraq speech.
It's tragic.

5. I read somewhere they will be used to handle huge number of prisoners
I read somewhere on DU today where an article talked about this deployment and mentioned that they will specifically be handling prisoners.

9. Since we started using amphibious vehicles
in the desert. We are running out of troops and equipment. If this were a game of Risk, I know who I would be planning to attack.

10. As an X-Wife of a "Ranger"... my thoughts exactly...
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 05:03 PM by WePurrsevere
These are 600 of the absolute creme d'la creme of the Army, highly skilled in combat, stealth and other survival skills. They are the first ones in and are trained to KILL first and ask questions later (and IME often seem to be "loose canons" at least near civies). The training they are put through strains them way beyond what other Army soldiers go through in boot camp and the money spent on giving them that extra fine edge I would be willing to bet quite is a bit more then the "average" soldier.

These soldiers are most certainly NOT the people you would want guarding prisoners unless you either want those prisoners "gone" or you think there are some pretty big guns coming to get them and they're "gold". The only other thing (other then LIES to CYB and they're going to invade Iran) is that might make them 'sitters is that the military is so short handed that they're now giving babysitting duty to soldiers they never would have even thought of years ago (it would be like assigning Rice to be a janitor).

Now I must admit I'm leaning towards invading Iran or the prisoners of "gold" and might need a tin foil hat for what has vaguely crossed my mind but... who do you think would need that much guarding and how far way is the next "big" election?

7. No wonder Bush is in hiding
Not only will he not bring our troops home, he has plans to kill even more!!!

My prediction: Iran right after Rummy's planned "May Day"-type parade in Washington. Bush won't be satisfied until he starts WWIII.

13. If they can't come up with 700 Iraqis to guard prisoners, we're in
worse shape than I ever thought. This will go on forever.
