10 Reasons Hillary Should NOT Run
From my blog, http://teenageenthusiast.blogspot.com (check it out)

Don't get my wrong, I love Hillary. I think she'd make a fine president. But i'm questioning whether or not the negatives of her possibly running outweith the possible positives.

The following are reasons why she should NOT run:

#1. Because she has so much hype about how she’ll supposedly steamroll over any competition, if she has even a remotely close race with an opponent in the democratic primary, the media will make it seem as if the sky is falling.

#2. Same as number 1, but in the general election and with 10 times the stakes.

#3. So many people just assume that she’ll be the nominee, that all her enemies, the interest groups and what not, will have had an extraordinary amount of time to build their campaign against her and gather ammo. Over 4 years worth. It’ll be bloody.

#4. She’s just simply a polarizing figure. Most people have already made up their mind about whether or not they like her. And its about evenly split.

#5. Hillary, like her husband, is a centrist. So as the election gets closer, like most candidates, she’ll move to the center, aesthetically at least. And the Republicans already despise her, she’s the perfect example of everything they hate. So they won’t bite. But as she does move to the center, I believe she will alienate those on the left and the most liberal people in the democratic base. So she’ll be losing on both ends. That’s a lot of votes.

#6. Is it really right for us to just keep the presidency within two families? This is a democracy, not aristocracy.

#7. She’s seen as a very divisive figure, and may bring back memories of really bad division. Mainstream voters will want someone who can unify the country.

#8. I guarantee you the Clinton’s probably have tons of old demons waiting in the wings, ready to make fantastic allegations and try to distract from real issues.

#9. Senators = Not good bets for presidential candidates

#10. She’d stay in the Senate and not make NY seem like a doormat. I think she is a key asset in the senate.... could be, and is, a strong leader there. Good to have her there. And more time in the Senate is more time to make her image seem more moderate (even though she already is, but the Republicans will do their best to make her seem far left)

All of these are valid assuming that the Republicans will stick to their pattern and put someone very conservative in there. But if they choose a moderate, like John McCain, all bets are off and Hillary might be a better choice than in the other cases. The same with Condoleezza Rice. We can’t let the GOP get the first female presidency

1. Look at her electronic voting bills
That, if for no other reason, is why I will never vote for her.

She is not our friend when it comes to fairly counted elections... Period, end of subject as far as I am concerned...

2. But but but...
While I agree with some of your analysis, it would just be so great if Hillary would win Novermber 4th, 2008, and Drudge had to post, with Freeper heads exploding everywhere:

HILLARY WINS

4. Don't forget the effect on downticket races
Hillary would be a risky standard-bearer for the weak incumbent Democrats and uncertain Democratic challengers in races that otherwise could be won.

Here are some of the Democratic candidates who would have to fight for their lives if they want to retain or capture the following U.S. Senate seats in 2008:

1.) Mary Landrieu (reelection in Louisiana)
2.) Tim Johnson (reelection in South Carolina)
3.) Mark Pryor (reelection in Arkansas)
4.) Deborah Coleman or Greg MacPherson (challenging Smith in Oregon)
5.) Patricia Madrid (in the likely event that Domenici retires in New Mexico)
6.) Mark Udall (challenging Allard in Colorado)
7.) Juan Garcia (challenging Cornyn in Texas)
8.) Drew Edmondson (challenging Inhofe in Oklahoma)
9.) Becky Lourey (challenging Coleman in Minnesota)
10,) Thurbert Baker or Shirley Franklin (challenging Chambliss in Georgia)
11.) Sander Levin, Dianne Byrum, Hansen Clarke, or George Heartman (when Levin retires in Michigan, and Candice Miller runs for his seat)
12.) Beth Edmonds or Hannah Pingree (challenging Collins in Maine)
13.) Jody Wagner (challenging John Warner in Viriginia)
14.) Ruth Ann Minner (if Biden retires, and Mike Castle runs on the GOP side)
15.) if Lautenberg retires in New Jersey

That’s as many as 15 potential competitive U.S. Senate races that could be negatively affected by having Hillary at the top of the ticket in those states where the electorate is already so evenly divided.

What good would Hillary Clinton be as president if the Republicans use her nomination to GOTV from their base and end up sweeping the U.S. Senate in the "red" and "purple" states?

5. Reason #11: She isn't Bill Clinton. Plain and simple.

6. Reason No. 12.
NO RED STATE FLIPS.

Gotta flip a couple - have to - to secure a win over Diebold.
