Will the wingnuts ever realize that they've been wrong?
On pretty much every issue in and about our country. That they have been played like puppets with their strings pulled, their intelligence abused (if their is any) by Bush and his media whores.

I would feel sorry for them, but their pride and hatred makes me turn the other cheek at their ignorance.

1. No, they won't.
It's just like the mothers of soldiers murdered in Iraq. They cannot bring themselves to believe it was all for nothing... nothing except helping the rich get richer.

2. They already know..
And in some cases truly believe that they are doing their 'Patriotic Duty' by spreading the misinformation.

As for the bottom feeders you more directly refer to;

No... their position is their identity. They generally do not have the depth to rescind an innapropriate position any more than they would give up an arm or a leg because they see both positions and limbs as being integral to their 'self'.

4. Only those...
...who have to stand for reelection. With the angry throngs lining up against the war, now over 60% of the citizens, there is going to be a heavy accounting next year.

But the neocons will go on, blissfully ignorant of what is happening before their very eyes, defending their position by doing the only thing they know how to do, smearing the opposition. Well, that may have worked when the opposition was only a plurality, but it will work against them when the opposition is an ever-growing majority. But they will cluelessly do what the only thing they know.

We've found their Achilles heal. It's what some of us has always known. It's Iraq. It's always been Iraq. Connected to Iraq is the DSM, Rove/Plame, and, of course, Cindy.

We've got the bastards. Now we got to convince the Congressional Democrats that this is the issue. Write your Congress-Critters.

8. My thoughts exactly.
"Pride cometh before a fall." They will never admit that they were wrong just as they won't admit how much damage they did to this nation by obsessing over Clinton, the President who had garnered world-wide respect and friendship for our nation. The RW relentless pursuit of his penis resulted in hamstringing his administration and a lot of things were left unfinished.

11. I'm one of those nutcases..
.... who is all but certain there is an economic calamity on the horizon for our country. If there isn't a war calamity first.

Like a drunk waking up in a gutter, a druggie mugging an old lady, a compulsive gambler maxing out all of his credit cards - there is the concept of "hitting rock bottom" at play here. When America hits rock bottom, a lot of people are going to wake up and ask themselves "how did we get here"?

The answer is going to begin with an "R" and end with an "N". It's just sad that like the aforementioned examples, people, companies, and even countries have to hit rock bottom before the real change can happen.

It's going to be like postwar Japan and Germany, and there are going to be lots of recriminations not only for politicians but for business leaders and media types as well. It is really going to suck to be them. But we're all going to suffer, make no mistake about that.

14. I will have to join you in that.
I have long believed that we will all pay the price for what has happened, but those who have supported it will fair the worst. I also would include those who did not bother or thought it was useless to do their duty and vote, they too, will suffer the most.

15. I agree and I really hate developing a defeatist attitude.
Every day that passes, you hope that the tipping point will be reached, but it never comes. Cindy Sheehan is a catalyst for a noble movement, but the media insists on demonizing her. This is what the majority of Americans hear (because it was on the TV).

Short of economic calamity, I don't foresee a change soon. The fucking fourth estate, OUR MEDIA, has been enabling BushCo and his endeavors. Our democratic leadership, with the exception of a rare few, are just as complicit in letting everything fall apart.

My frustration is boiling over. I thank God for DU. I couldn't imagine having to fight this alone.

13. The signs of wisdom are fleeting, but one of them is to be capable of
admitting to being wrong, and correcting ones actions/thought patterns to the exposed truth.

While I am far from wise, I know I have made mistakes in my past, and have worked diligently to correct them. Some of them i can no longer correct, and I am haunted by those whom i have harmed in the past, The object is to ensure that I do not make the same mistake again.

One thing I have noticed, is that to make a public confirmation of an error, is an extremely difficult thing to do. It is easier for me, as I am not the president nor am I someone of high profile....but if I were, I would would not be hesitant to accept responsibility for an error in judgment.

I would suspect, that since bush has publicly declared he was placed in the WH by God, he will never accept the fact that he is a flawed human with an incredible amount of baggage attached to his personage. I seriously wonder if he is psychologically competent to be much more than a head of cabbage. He will never admit that a mistake was made, he believes he is infallible.
