The results so far of this poll at AOL is one small reason I'm glad I'm not an AOL user anymore.

I joined up for this reason. These polls are nothing short of diversion. It's a ploy to keep CITIZENS occupied while THEY do the shit they do.
Last night was a breath of fresh air, and we need to keep this fervor.
To hell with the polls, to hell with CNN, to hell Faux.
Cindy has shown us how to get this country back....

I used to be a web developer for a major cable news portal and I have a lot of inside info about how these polls are designed and used. The data they collect is more important than most people realize. In most cases the results are pre determined. The cable news site I used to work for, the tally was manipulated to justify an opinion that a program will later speak to. For example, Sean Hannity will mention that a Fox News poll shows "over whelming support for Bush" on Hannity and Colmbs.
People can vote multiple times in a poll by simply deleting the cookie planted by the website. However, server side scripts are designed to ignore votes that will contradict an outcome predetermined for a programs talking points.
I'm sure other web developers out there have experience in this as well. Its horrible and I saw the most obscene abuses occur during the 2004 election run up.

Its really great to be part of the DU. I owe it all to the late Andy Stephenson who I met at the Showbox in Seattle back in 03. I approached him after a speech he gave about voter fraud and explained to him how a group of us software developers examined the Diebold source code and were amazed at how shit it was. He was well aware of the code faults but still appreciated my concern. We chatted for a couple of hours and he turned me on to the DU. I finally got off my ass to participate here.
