Approval ratings for all US Senators as of 08/18/2005, by Survey USA |
|
http://www.surveyusa.com/100USSenators0805SortedbyNetApprovalScore.htm>http://www.surveyusa.com/100USSenators0805...provalScore.htmI can't believe that Lieberman is tied for 6th most popular place :silly: . He blows out Hillary Clinton, who is ranked 42nd. Guess Holy Joe is buoyed by Repukes.

Is the voting done nationally, or by people who are represented by each senator?

3. "600 adults age 18+ in each of the 50 states" |

 Clearly, they were asked to rate their own Senators. I can't imagine them sitting through a list of 100 Senators and even knowing who they are let alone rating them.

5. Thank you. I asked because I could not access what you linked to. |

That's what I meant by "bad link."

9. Nice tables, but I'd like to know more about the sampling technique used |
|
However, I am encouraged by the ranking of the bottom 6. If this is indeed valid, looks like these rethugs will not be re-elected.

4. Strange how Maine has #1 and #2 |
|
We all love our girls up here. Probably because their votes, while not always agreeable, are always pro-maine.

10. I wonder if the Repubs will take note |
|
They are considered two of the voices of Republican moderation and wind up at the top.
That, combined with Santorum's bottom ranking, is indicatiion that the GOP would be better to take back the party from the right wing.

Politics in Maine is a very strange beast. What works here, does not work elsewhere, and what works elsewhere does not work here. For example, political campaigns in Maine are very tame. Sure we have what we call mudslinging, but in reality our mudslinging tends to be more wet-willys than full on mudslinging. Candidates who resort to nasty tatics don't get elected. Most campaigns are very polite and really tend to focus on the issues. You can't rely on party voting here are more Mainers are non-affiliated, and even party people dont mind jumping party to support the person they like. We've always elected women (with good reason). Plus we tend to like the odd-ball candidate over the slick willies. We gave Ross Perot his 1 electoral vote.

14. The GOP fascist wing doesn't care. |
|
The GOP is the epitome of a lockstep authoritarian party - akin to the Communist Party in Russia and another party that shall not be named (cNoAuZgIh). The Democratic Party is, sadly, gaining some of that characteristic as it creeps and stumbles to the right.
In effect, partisanship is based on the implicit assumption that party comes before nation. I say "implicit" because it's the core of the consequentialist (utilitarian) assertion that "you can't change things unless you win" -- putting "winning" first. The GOP is nothing if not utilitarian. There's not a deontological bone in that party. Not one.

RICK SANTORUM!!! No big surprise there, huh?
The bottom five are all Repubs -- if we could only keep what we have and take at least those 5 seats......

He doesn't have to be popular everywhere does he? He's more popular in his state then she is in hers? Or is this an overall?

18. What I noticed about this poll... |
|
...is that until you hit the teens in net approval, there are 28 Republicans and 29 Democrats. The bulk of 'pukes are toward the bottom with net approval in the teens. IMO, that looks good for picking up some seats in the Senate for Dems.

19. What always interests me about such polls |
|
is that, while approval ratings for the Senate as a whole tend to be low, personal approval ratings for senators are generally pretty high.
I guess the average poll respondent feels that there are about 98 people in the Senate at any given time who are really stinking up the joint.
