Kerry blisters Republicans, touts Democratic comeback at state level
Kerry blisters Republicans, touts Democratic comeback at state level
By David Ammons, AP Political Writer | August 19, 2005

SEATTLE –John Kerry, last year’s unsuccessful Democratic nominee for president, was back on the campaign trail Friday — this time promoting a Democratic resurgence at America’s state capitals as the party attempts to rebuild.

After blistering Republicans on everything from Iraq to health care, the Massachusetts senator said Democrats have an opportunity to rebuild simply by addressing the concerns that affect people’s daily lives — energy, transportation, health care and security.

That's the big reason why Kerry didn't pull the votes he needed to win. His position on Iraq was unforgivable.

14. Not only did he vote with Bush in the first place on the Iraq
issue, when asked several months later, in light of the new information, he still maintained that he would vote war again. That was it for me. I'm even down on Dean for saying we've got to stay. Why do we have to stay? What possible good could we do? We are the biggest problem Iraq has.

19. But why did he vote for the IWR?
Kerry explains IWR vote. Lesson learned. The hard way.

"This was the hardest vote I have ever had to cast in my entire career," Kerry said. "I voted for the resolution to get the inspectors in there, period. Remember, for seven and a half years we were destroying weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. In fact, we found more stuff there than we thought we would. After that came those four years when there was no intelligence available about what was happening over there. I believed we needed to get the weapons inspectors back in. I believed Bush needed this resolution in order to get the U.N. to put the inspectors back in there. The only way to get the inspectors back in was to present Bush with the ability to threaten force legitimately. That's what I voted for."

"The way Powell, Eagleberger, Scowcroft, and the others were talking at the time," continued Kerry, "I felt confident that Bush would work with the international community. I took the President at his word. We were told that any course would lead through the United Nations, and that war would be an absolute last resort. Many people I am close with, both Democrats and Republicans, who are also close to Bush told me unequivocally that no decisions had been made about the course of action. Bush hadn't yet been hijacked by Wolfowitz, Perle, Cheney and that whole crew. Did I think Bush was going to charge unilaterally into war? No. Did I think he would make such an incredible mess of the situation? No. Am I angry about it? You're God damned right I am. I chose to believe the President of the United States. That was a terrible mistake."

History defends this explanation. The Bush administration brought Resolution 1441 to the United Nations in early November of 2002 regarding Iraq, less than a month after the Senate vote. The words 'weapons inspectors' were prominent in the resolution, and were almost certainly the reason the resolution was approved unanimously by the Security Council. Hindsight reveals that Bush's people likely believed the Hussein regime would reject the resolution because of those inspectors. When Iraq opened itself to the inspectors, accepting the terms of 1441 completely, the administration was caught flat-footed, and immediately began denigrating the inspectors while simultaneously piling combat troops up on the Iraq border. The promises made to Kerry and the Senate that the administration would work with the U.N., would give the inspectors time to complete their work, that war would be an action of last resort, were broken.

Kerry completed his answer by leaning in close to Alterman, eyes blazing, and said, "Eric, if you truly believe that if I had been President, we would be at war in Iraq right now, then you shouldn't vote for me."

46. I cannot reconcile these words with his stated Iraq policy.
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 10:20 PM by longship
The dissonance between the two positions is astounding. Yet he still maintains that we cannot cut and run (possibly not his words). But the concept that continuing an utterly failed policy--putting many more lives in danger--solely for a concept of saving face, or some much more obtuse patriotic reason, is preferable to searching for a long-lived policy which puts life and welfare above immediate expediancy is astoundingly misguided.

Kerry and the rest of the Democrats have to look long and hard at what they are doing and where that might lead them. Currently 60-some percent of the citizens of this country have taken a position against the Iraq war. To continue with the utterly failed neocon war policy is to stay on the road to defeat. One only hopes that their children and their children's children may live to despise them for it.

70. Actually, during the campaign Kerry suggested
getting international support. That is a more viable policy now than it was then. Bush is not pursuing the international support route because he apparently thinks the cost would be too high. Kerry would have gotten us out earlier without abandoning innocent victims in Iraq and also without the terrible cost we are paying now.

94. I know what Kerry said during the campaign.
It's the same thing he says now.

"Knowing what I know now, I still would have voted for the war with Iraq." He also said that he would not support a pull-out of troops in Iraq.

It's the single issue, and probably the single statement that lost him the election. He still has not changed that position. Any candidate who runs with that position will lose.

I am acutely aware that we would not be in Iraq right now if Kerry had won. But you must be aware that Iraq was the big issue in 2004. It's an bigger issue now. In 2006, with the way things are going now, war will be bigger yet, especially if we get entangled with Iran. The extent to which a Dem candidate supports the Chimp's wars in 2006 is the extent to which the candidate loses. That was also true in 2004 and it cost Kerry the election.

I cannot support any candidate who minces words on Iraq.

95. I can understand how you feel.
But, the time for choosing a candidate is yet to come. We have to wait to see what develops in the interim. Iraq is a big issue now. I don't predict that it will go away, but we don't know what even bigger issues will arise between now and the 2008 election. Meanwhile we need to get really good Democrats who can win seats in the 2006 congressional races to run, and we need to be united to work together to win those races.

101. Of course, you are correct.

Other issues may blossom, but only by becoming bigger and badder than Iraq which, with daily deaths, is plenty big. I sincerely doubt any issue will eclipse Iraq. The reason I believe that is simple.

It is now totally apparent that this administration has been focussed almost solely on Iraq since well before the election (PNAC, etc.). It is close to their only foreign policy issue. When they walked into the White House in 2001, almost the first thing they did was to shut down the terrorist investigations and plan for the attack of Bagdad. To the neocons Iraq is the most important issue. Nothing eclipses it.

That's why it is their Achilles heal. The sooner everybody on the Dem side realizes this very simple fact, the sooner we will be on the road to victory after victory.

Of course, if there's a housing collapse, or an economic collapse, or another large terrorist attack, or space aliens abduct Dick Cheney's pet schnauzer, things might change. But I doubt it. Not even the ever increasing price of gas is eclipsing it. Barring a large catastrophe Iraq is going to remain the top issue.

and not leave a footprint behind, in terms of erecting permanent bases there. Kerry has said that he expected we would be out of Iraq at least before the end of this Pres's current term. I think that time-table will move up considerably and soon.

Kerry laid out a series of steps that might have helped in Iraq, had they been followed. He also spoke about how the current Admin bungled the job and bungled every opportunity to fix it. He repeatedly said that time is running out, most recently in June in a NYTimes OpEd piece that you can read for yourself at his Senate web site. (Just so I'm not putting words in somebody's mouth.)

I think time has run out. I no longer think that we can do anything positive in Iraq. I think we need to leave because the longer we stay there, the more destablized Iraq becomes. Up until the last couple of weeks I thought that we might be able to save some Iraqi lives by staying and giving the Iraqi Parliament a chance to work things out. I no longer see any reason to believe that. I have changed my mind. I think that leading Dems are beginning to see this as well. They did what they could to give advice to an Admin that is callous and only listens to cherry-picked advice and facts.

Bear in mind, that the earliest date any Dem (or Repub) has stated for a withdrawal is Dec. 2006. I think the * Admin may actually 'cut and run' long before that and then find a way to call it a victory. If you sense that I derive nothing positive from this war or any actions associated with it and can see nothing by despair and hopelessness, you are right. There is pelnty of blame to go around and I put 98% of it on those who planned it, directed it and screwed it up so badly that America will take decades to repair the damage.

65. Why don't we just shoot our own feet?
At this point, it's fine to have more than one candidate. It is too early to be choosing up sides and shooting each other's feet. We are not the enemy this time -- unless we choose to be.

So what if you or I don't like this or that potential candidate at this time. Let's be positive toward all who put their names in the hat at this point. Instead of cutting down candidates, lets state in positive language what we want from a candidate. Each of the candidates has good and bad qualities. I get tired of all the tearing down of other people's favorite candidates.

64. kerrygoddess....you left this out of your Conyers post...that he said as
a "preamble" to your snip in your post:

I think I can predict the initial reaction of many of you who have been closely following the Ohio 2004 Presidential election investigations. You will be disappointed that Mr. Krugman stops short of saying the election fraud and irregularities in the 2004 election cost Senator Kerry the White House. While it is no secret what conclusion I have drawn about that question, I do not share this disappointment.

I know that many of my fellow progressives think the official margin of victory for Bush in Ohio, well over 100,000 votes, is too large a margin to be entirely reversed by proof of fraud or malfeasance. For them to believe that to be the case, they need to see some reasonable quantification of the actual voters who were disenfranchised and, in turn, the actual votes that were lost. After all, unlike the Republicans who still think Saddam Hussein possessed WMD when we invaded Iraq and believe we are winning the war, who think that tax cuts for the wealthy will grow the economy and reduce the deficit, who think a grieving mother and an Ambassador's wife are "fair game," and who think that the way to fix Social Security is to destroy it, we progressives are a “reality based community.”

The problem with answering my fellow progressives' challenge for numbers is that so much of what happened in Ohio centered on unquantifiable events that makes counting the number of disenfranchised voters impossible. How can we determine exactly how many Kerry voters turned around and went home facing hopelessly long lines at the polls? Or how many voters were never registered, and were turned away on election day, because of bizarre and conflicting Ken Blackwell edits about the weight of voter registration forms? Or how many votes were lost because of machine defects or manipulation?

What I can say is what the House Judiciary Committee Democratic Staff said best in the Conyers report: "We have found numerous, serious election irregularities in the Ohio presidential election, which resulted in a significant disenfranchisement of voters. Cumulatively, these irregularities, which affected hundreds of thousand of votes and voters in Ohio, raise grave doubts regarding whether it can be said the Ohio electors selected on December 13, 2004, were chosen in a manner that conforms to Ohio law, let alone federal requirements and constitutional standards."* Is there an exact number? No. Was it potentially a net loss of more than 100,000 Democratic votes? I think so. I continue to investigate what happened in Ohio and in the rest of the nation in the 2004 election and maybe someday the evidence will be sufficiently irrefutable to convince every fair-minded person of the extent and effect of electoral wrongdoing in 2004.

The good Senator from MA has my deepest respect. I was once a constituent... still am in my heart, MA will always be home.

As for the vilification... well some have nothing better to do. Kerry, Dean, Conyers (today) everyone says get out and get moving on 06.

the resurgance of the Democratic Party at local levels.
John Kerry is NOT one of them!

34. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are.....
Howard Dean, Paul Hackett, Cindy Sheehan, John Conyers, Bob Fitrakis, Rhandi Rhodes, Josh Mitteldorf, Bob Koehler, Cynthia McKinney, Mike Malloy, Maxine Waters, Henry Waxman, Jerrold Nadler, David Cobb, Clifford Arnebeck, Jesse Jackson, Joseph Wilson and Stephanie Tubbs Jones.

Well keep in mind that's off the top of my head, roughly 20 people.

48. I have already read it.
I see several instances of Kerry speaking out on issues from a DLC platform, alot of soundbytes relating to Iraq, and information regarding his fight for veterans.

I certainly am not convinced he's doing more work than the alleged names on this list combined, nor has been a vocal proponent of everything. I can see he has done things, but by and large the local parties are organized by the democratic national committee. Howard Dean's appointment to chairman may have had more effect than anything else, since he is in charge of the grassroots sector for most states. Although his working role is not the cause, as there is plenty of local people hitting hard on reform across the counties and they are giving Dean the energy to spearhead this. From what I can gather, this movement stems more from just wanting to change the system alltogether and less from political loyalties or scorecards.

Let's not make this into a pissing match, okay. This is about Kerry in the news, if you don't wnat to know what Kerry is doing don't bother with it.

Find a Dean thread to discuss Dean. Okay.

54. Here are a couple statements.
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 10:45 PM by globalvillage
I'm sure there are more.

“As we head into the 20005 and 2006 elections, I will work with the DNC and Democratic, Republican and Independent leaders across the country to implement the recommendations of this report and restore faith in American democracy. We must insist on reform at every level to stop voter suppression, strengthen voting rights and secure funding for election officials to purchase reliable and verifiable voting machines so that the discrepancies the voting rights team found in Ohio do not occur again.

“President Bush and Republican leaders should also read this report and use their control of Washington to take action on real electoral reform pending in the House and Senate.

“Protecting the right to vote isn't a Democratic or Republican value, it's an American value. Washington must pass reform like the Count Every Act of 2005, but we must also build a groundswell of support in communities across the country to hold elected leaders accountable for failing to protect the right to vote. “I will share the results of this study with elected leaders across the country and the hundreds of thousands of Americans who volunteered on my campaign in 2004. I am also committed to working with civil rights leaders and community activists across the country to secure real investments of time and resources for voter education and training.

http://kerry.senate.gov/v3/cfm/record.cfm?id=239315

“No one in the United States should walk out of a voting booth on Election Day and fear their vote might not be counted. No eligible voter should approach their polling place and fear that they will be intimidated or denied their right to vote. And no American should lose their chance to vote because the lines were too long due to a shortage of machines.

“Real election reform means passing the Count Every Vote Act of 2005, which seeks to end absurdly long lines, the erroneous purging of voters, voter suppression and intimidation, and unequal access to the voting process. The Count Every Vote Act would also incorporate a voter-verified paper trail for use by all voters, including those for whom English is a second language, illiterate voters and voters with disabilities – and mandates national standards in a variety of areas, including voter registration and counting provisional ballots.

http://kerry.senate.gov/v3/cfm/record.cfm?id=243484

edit. here's another.

“Faulty voting machines have no place in the greatest democracy on earth. Barriers to voting are an insult to the freest, greatest nation in the world.

“Last month, I sent out an email to Americans urging them to ask the Republican leadership in the House and Senate to make election reform a priority this Congress. In just one day 35,000 people called Senator Frist and Congressman Hastert's offices and urged them to hold hearings on election reform. I'm committed to making sure their voices are heard and Congress and the Administration make electoral reform a reality this year.

“I am proud today to join with my colleagues, Senators Clinton and Boxer, Congresswoman Tubbs Jones and Congressman Conyers, and the nation's leading civil rights groups to advance comprehensive election reform.

“Congress must take action to ensure all Americans have faith in future elections that the votes they stood in line to cast are counted. “Today, I once again call on our Republican colleagues to make protecting voting rights a priority and to put election reform legislation on the legislative calendar this year. I call on Congress to keep its promise and fully fund the Help America Vote Act, fund the activities of the Election Assistance Commission, and help states invest in better voting machines with paper trails.

60. Like I said-He STILL has not called for paper ballots and hand counts. He
actually according to your post calls for further funding of the HAVA legislation which is an actual sellout of a fair and honest electoral process imo.

Thanks for the posts though. I simply won't settle for anything less than paper and hand counts. Sorry.

The Count Every Vote Act is a step in the right direction but it too is insufficient and has gaping holes for continued fraWd. I supported Kerry and I believe he alone is in a unique position to demand paper ballots and hand counts. No other person in this country has as much opportunity and ability to effect the change we need. His rhetoric in your post is good but doesn't go so far as stating the facts re:fraWd in 04 or demanding paper and hand counts.

73. I admire your tenacity and support of Sen. Kerry. I too admire JK. I am a
transplanted Baystater who actually cast a vote for him as a Middlesex County D.A. when I was 18. I voted for him as Lt. Gov. and of course I voted for him as my Senator. He is a good man. He is a wise man. I know he is not a one trick pony. I am not a one trick pony unless that pony is the very democratic process by which we address the other ponies.

In other words in my opinion if your vote is not counted or peraps better put; if you have a corrupt process then you do not have representation and the majority does not rule. Republican )or democratic for that matter) ownership of the voting process is fundamentally fascist. So, I remain adamant that JK and every other informed politico who claims patriotism and loyalty to our constitution must demand paper ballots and hand counts and throw the corporate control out of our voting process.

Point is Kerry is out there doing good stuff. There's a lot broken. Give the man credit when do, or atleast have the respect to not trash someone's posts that are simply news.

You know I don't run around DU saying so and so did this and so and so did that. I have my complaints about Dems, sure, I'm human, but I am not going to bash every Dem and jump on posts about every Dem I don't like. It's pointless and it only helps the Rovians.

In a later post, you call again for him to say something, and I'm posting quotes to let you know that he has.
I don't know the Senator's position on paper ballots, but I'm sure he can't bring that one about alone. Maybe we need to think about a broader appeal? Possibly include some pols who really haven't said a damn thing about election fraud.
Just trying to set the record straight.

I said maybe it was my mistake for misreading your post. What the fuck do you want me to do? If you put a fucking comma where it belongs, I would not have had to read your second sentence multiple times to get your point.
If you're going to defend yourself, check your ammunition first.

So, it appears that the speech yesterday did not include any mention of paper ballots. Of course, we haven't seen the transcript, but let's assume you're correct and leave it at that.

91. But I thought you said he isn't a one trick pony. The article say's the
following: "After blistering Republicans on everything from Iraq to health care, the Massachusetts senator said Democrats have an opportunity to rebuild simply by addressing the concerns that affect people’s daily lives — energy, transportation, health care and security."

Nothing here about electoral integrity though. The agenda to which you refer seemed pretty damned broad (as it should be) but not a syllable about election integrity.

57. Position on Digital Voting: Did anyone ever see this?
http://www.veteransforpeace.org/How_they_could_steal_072904.htm

Kerry told Florida Democrats last March, "I don't think we ought to have any vote cast in America that cannot be traced and properly recounted." Pointing out in a recent speech at the NAACP convention that "a million African-Americans were disenfranchised in the last election," Kerry says his campaign is readying 2,000 lawyers to "challenge any place in America where you cannot trace the vote and count the votes" .

A day later the election is over. What is wrong with this picture that claims there is no evidence?

69. Here's what I don't understand about this.
there is NOT ENOUGH PROOF!

Why is there not enough proof?

http://www.answers.com/topic/2004-u-s-presidential-election-controversy-voting-machines

The only kind of proof that is neccesary to fully prosecute a crime, is intent, motive, and conspirators.

Now, these corporations clearly sold tabulator machines that were not legally certified into multiple states. The names of the individuals and allegations are cited. They were also clearly corrupted and in violation of numerous state codes, this is evident.

Why could they not have taken them into court then and openly sued the vendors getting these machines banned?

Look at Paul Lehto's lawsuit in Washington which is succeeding. There has been opportunities to do this since November 3 2004, yet no one has done anything.

It is only NOW that heavy handed actions are taken to put a stop to this. If the state boards claim the results are proprietary or they can't release the numbers because of trade secrets, that's a red flag for fraud. That should bring on several RICO lawsuits.

Yet this was not pursued, evidently, until Paul Lehto and other investigators jumped in. Here's my question: Are politicians afraid of Diebold, ES&S, Sequoia for money reasons?

The Merrimack Valley is one of nine mercury 'hotspots,' or areas with elevated mercury levels, in New England. The Senate Democratic Policy Committee held the hearing on mercury in response to repeated denials of Republican-led committees to hold hearings on the matter.

59. Ah, but you are the goddess.
Amazing that some choose to embrace the cause du jour, and forget that we have leaders who have spent a lifetime serving this country. Not that the neophytes aren't important. Hell, I drove hundreds of miles and spent a good bit of cash volunteering for Paul Hackett because I think he's a good Dem. And I don't regret one minute or one dollar, despite the outcome.
We have to remember that there's a place for all good Dems in this party. The ones who are just starting out, and the ones who have been fighting for the last 35 years or so.

You all come in my threads about Kerry in the news and bash the shit out of him. It sucks. I don't need to waste my time posting this stuff here. My time and money are precious, too.

I worked my ass for a very very long time for Kerry and I'm sorry, but that line is a big turnoff. So too it is a big turnoff that the people here who support Kerry have to put up this every time someone posts something about him.

I can go through this thread and find countless posters who do this on every friggin thread I post about Kerry.

All I can say is you all ought to be ashamed of yourselves acting like children instead of people concerned about your country and the mess it is in. John Kerry is out there trying to make a difference. Show some respect or ignore the posts about him!

record and student of all religous philosophies and cultures and how they relate to governance and YOU say he's not a progressive for THIS time?

That's ludicrous.

And you have YET to name even ONE lawmaker who matches Kerry's record for investigating and exposing government corruption.

Real historians care about the FACTS and their effect, whether positive or negative, on governance and history, itself. Name one lawmaker in service today who even comes close to having as much positive effect on history as Kerry.

for one. I'm NOT a Deaniac, but I respect the work HE did even BEFORE he was the DNC Chair. Against popular wisdom and advice, Howard Dean LED the effort to energize and revitalize the Democratic Party in states that the ESTABLISHMENT Democratic Party had abandonned for decades (DFA)!

gwbush* has also done much to energize the grass roots liberals to take a more active role in the Democratic Party.
The establisment Dems(JK is one) were completely caught in the DARK by local activism which, in the absense of grass roots leadership, organized ITSELF around the Internet.

It's pointless to try to illustrate how great Kerry is to someone who is just going to shut their eyes, shut their ears and refuse to listen.

Some dogs can't hunt no matter how hard you try to point them in the general direction of the obvious.

Joe Trippi.

Dean was FOR a resolution for war in the form of Biden-Lugar which had no SIGNIFICANT differences from the IWR that was passed. Not the exact same, but, nothing in B-L would have been an additional obstacle to war than what passed.

Dean's fortune was that very few in the media even knew he supported Biden-Lugar version of the IWR in the fall of 2002, so he was able to take advantage of the media labeling him a staunch antiwar candidate in early 2003.

However, I am quite certain his shift was noted by the RNC, as well as his drastic shift on NAFTA when he used to feel that it was SO important that he showed up at the signing.

Dean was showing political gamesmanship which is not really a bad thing, in fact, Clinton succeeded by his skill at the game. Up against a media machine like the current GOP controls, though, and the political swiftness can be twisted into a liability...flip-flo, cravenness, political expediency....whatever direction Rove needed.

You mean like that?

My personal favorites of the moment:

-complaining about getting the emails when there is an UNSUBSCRIBE button readily handy. Or is it an "I like to hit myself on the head because if feels good when I stop" situation

-coming into a Kerry thread to express how much you don't care. Gee, if you didn't care, you wouldn't have bothered.

-coming into a Kerry thread to make sure that everyone knows you won't vote for him again, even if the thread has NOTHING to do with 2008 in the slightest. Esp. if you've expressed those sentiments a hundred times already. We're not Drew Barrymore people. We can remember yesterday. This isn't "50 First Dates."

Kerry Rallies Democratic Lawmakers in Seattle
By Austin Jenkins

OLYMPIA, WA 2005-08-19 - Massachusetts Senator John Kerry spoke in Seattle Friday, rallying the Democratic troops attending a national legislative conference. He said despite his defeat, and his party’s losses in Congress, Democrats have made headway in state governments across the country.

76. Another quote from today...
In an arch comment about the president's recent statement in favor of teaching "intelligent design" as an alternative to the theory of evolution, Kerry said, "I think we ought to be getting some intelligent design in our policy in Iraq."

That drew a standing ovation and whoops of delight from the audience.

123. TEXT OF SPEECH
The complete text of John Kerry’s speech to the DLCC, as prepared for delivery, follows:

“It’s great to be sharing thoughts with a group of public people who really know what the front lines are like. Thank you for the privilege of being here. I can’t thank you enough for your extraordinary efforts to help Teresa and me these last years. You showed guts and you sacrificed. You did everything: opened your living rooms – worked phone banks – raised money – knocked on doors – built crowds. You campaigned in your districts, states and in some cases across the country. You did everything, except move to Ohio.

100. "...we don't need some great lurch to the right or lurch to the left or...
redefinition of the Democratic Party." Full quote below. This is what the Democrats need to be saying in unison in a loud voice all over the country, so Americans will take note.

"We have to go out and fight for the real issues that make a difference in the lives of the American people and we don't need some great lurch to the right or lurch to the left or redefinition of the Democratic Party," the Massachusetts Democrat said. "The last thing America needs is a second Republican Party."

Thanks for speaking out, John Kerry. And thanks for the link, kg.

109. That was the best part to me. The Dem party already covers a wide range
from far left to center, and we don't need to go any further as so many on both sides are saying.

That's just crazy, because then you really limit your appeal.

The 2000 and 2004 platforms were both the best platforms that could possibly be written to accomodate such a wide range of views for just one party.

I admire all of you, kerrygoddess, globalvillage and zulchzulu for so loyally and passionately standing up for your candidate. I was (became) a great Kerry fan too, and it was horribly painful to see the Kerry-bashing all over the web. I support the Democratic governor of my state for re-election, but he's being trashed all over the media--I can find only a few voices of timid support. That's why I had to change my signature! Your courage in the face of all this is an inspiration to me. I love globalvillage's list of all the things Kerry's been saying.

Yesterday I thanked you, kerrygoddess, for your kind words of encouragement. I hope I can, like globalvillage, work up a similar list of what my Governor has done. I have tentatively joined a goup which works for the reelection of all Democratics across the state. What little money I have goes to the gov, but I get my regular Kerry e-mails and I always sign his on-line petitions. In Illinois, there is a Lynch Obama Brigade and a Lynch Blagojevich Brigade. As another member of Illinois DU put it, WE ARE DEMOCRATICS, AND WE EAT OUR YOUNG.

132. Spelling
DEMOCRATS, instead of DEMOCRATICS. Missed typo.

116. Finishing up on a documentary that debunks Kerry-bashing excuses...
...and other issues.

It's a completely independent documentary done on my own dime that will illustrate grassroots politics, have a lot of unique footage of various candidates and lots of funny animation to illustrate issues like Bush ads, DSM, the Ohio vote and other stuff...

119. Should have a pre-release version mid-Sept.-early Oct.
It will be 90% close to what the final will be.

The problem is when to stop adding sections when more stories keep coming out like the DSM... a key part of the documentary is how the MSM was complicit in not getting Kerry's message out...and key issues that Kerry spoke about as early as the time leading up to the Iowa caucuses have come true.

Plus I'm wittling down 20 hours of video and want to have certain musicians give permission to use their contributions without paying a lot of money...it is an independent movie done on a shoestring budget...I don't want assistance from the usual folks that the Right Wing would obviously attack on...

I will most certainly keep you posted and it will be available for download when I'm happy with it.

125. is Kerry signing on with Edwards and "PLAN" ??
the agendas sound very similar ...

ABOUT PLAN

The Progressive Legislative Action Network's mission is to drive public policy debates and change the political landscape in the United States by focusing on attainable and progressive state level actions. It will do so by providing coordinated research support for a network of State legislators, their staff's and constituencies, in order to equip them with coherent logistical and strategic advocacy tools necessary for advancing key progressive economic and social policies.

126. I think I'd like that very much
Is that something Edwards is doing? Or are you just saying that what Kerry and Edwards are doing sounds like PLAN?

128. Keep it coming!
We need to let our Dems know when we are happy and want more! They need to be encouraged, not discouraged.
