Just watched the coverage of "Camp Casey" on Nightline..... |
|
Not a bad little piece of footage, right up to date. Showed a little bit of the opposition. We got to see the "mothers day" march to the gate to hell (Dumbya's Driveway). A "polite" WH staffer accepted the letters. Then Cindy announced she was leaving, she got in the car, walked to the plane, got off in L.A. like regular folk. Unusual for me to watch, as I don't watch any TV News regardless of the network or channel.

My thoughts...
I think it's amazing that Cindy's story made Nightline. She's definitely on the map and drawing attention to the failure of Iraq and the recklessness of BushCo. A Nightline placement is a good thing.
I thought they portrayed Cindy very favorably. They gave her credit for spotlighting the Iraq war and for helping to erode support for it. They definitely positioned her as a thorn in Junior's side. Also, they cast her in a positive light. When she spoke, she was gentle and articulate.
Some of the naysayers looked like hick goofballs. The woman who said that the protesters should leave, was comical. She mentioned, "I support the pResident and I think he deserves a vacation." Her point was silly and she looked naive.
One of the naysayers said something nasty. I'm paraphrasing, but I heard one of the protesters say that they equated Cindy and the protesters with the terrorists. I think this helped out cause, because that statement is hugely extreme and outlandish. Cindy was shown being gentle, kind and supportive. Those cutting words from the protester appeared radical and extreme.
They only negative...there wasn't enough rhetoric about the anti-war positions--that Bush lied his way into war and that the reasons for the war have been debunked. We didn't get to hear a lot about our sides' views. It would have been nice if more was included.
However, this was a positive piece. Cindy has really succeeded in setting the agenda.
No wonder Junior left the state.

3. Yes, I thought it was good. The goofy lady who said, |
|
"Bush deserves a vacation" cracked me up. I think anyone, dem or repub, who watched the show probably scratched their head at that remark. Junior's vacations have been widely snickered at even on the msm.

4. when you mentioned that "she walked to the plane," I had this . . . |
|
horrible vision of Cindy getting ready for her return flight, only to be told that her name is on "the list" . . .

you know they want her dead, but it would be so obvious if they started to mess with her....i don't think they dare, but then again these animals are ruthless.
