A real SLAM on Bush** (you want to feel good today?)
I had this in articles and editorials, but because we have to have the subject line state the title, no-one read it and I think it WILL MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD...

2008: CHENEY VS. HILLARY
(This article has less to do with the title than a slam of **)

<snip>

Bush is in the process of destroying the American military.

It may get even worse for the president, who has made it quite clear over these months that he is not interested in dealing with people who disagree with him, beginning with poor women who have lost their children in Iraq. For what? Tell us again, Mr. President.

In 2002, the president revealed how he thought about other people's opinions and insights when he was interviewed for a book by Bob Woodward of The Washington Post. Woodward asked Bush whether he was listening to staff and advisers as he prepared for war, and the answer was: "Of course not. I'm the commander. See, I don't have to explain why I say things ... I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

His belief that he does not have to explain anything will certainly restrict his social circle. If the war he wanted continues to go the way it seems to be going, he may be reduced to long conversations with the vice president, the secretary of defense and the secretary of state. They may be the only Americans who will not ask him to explain how he could have been so foolish. No wonder he wants to spend his time on a bicycle.

<snip>

Of course my mind may be clouded by too much sun or too many New Yorkers. Since there is no reason to talk about President Bush out here at the end of Long Island, folks all talk about President Clinton -- and I don't mean former President Clinton.

1. Even when I already know it, it's a pleasure to see it all laid out
in black and white like that! Thanks.
