These LaRoucheites
are driving me nuts. Right now they're camped out on the Market Street corner and have displaced the nice gentleman who makes and sells anti-Bu$hCo buttons, and who usually stands in that spot. The nice gentleman has moved far, far away so that he is not smeared by these nuts.

I've always felt that LaRouchites and Scientologists were about as sane and credible as each other, and this group of punks out on the corner proves it. I refused to take their handout crap and told them they were crazy to support LaRouche. This set them off on a shouting match. I asked them why they were not in our movement to stop the war and get rid of Bu$hCo, and the response I got was two of them, wearing Cheney masks, yelling at me unintelligibly, one of them blowing bubbles while yelling. I finally told them they were babies (chronologically) and had no idea what LaRouche was really all about over the past 45 years One of their young men said "Well, lady, I think you're behind the times".

Um, yeah, I guess I'm always going to be too far behind the times to support anti-Semitism and fascism.

1. They really are brainwashed. I've debated them before and it's amazing.
They literally have no minds of their own and totally believe in their own and LaRouche's infallibility. It's scary.

2. Yeah they're pretty creepy
Remember them from the early 80's. Moonies were more reasonable.

5. whew -- thanks for the feedback --
I THOUGHT they were completely nuts and completely unable to debate or discuss. I THOUGHT they were coming across as completely brainwashed. But thanks to your feedback, and a peek at the LaRouche "Youth" group website, I see that they are indeed as bad as Scientologists, and as full of sh!t.

When they appear to co-opt our issues, such as the current Cheney bit they are on, I resent and dislike them even more.

8. some of their writing sounds reasonable. a few DUers
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 03:39 PM by jonnyblitz
have posted articles from them and have defended them because they take stands similar to ours when they criticize Bush. but they are crazy. For example, they think Queen Elizabeth runs an international dope ring. They put out a book called "Dope,Inc" awhile back that supposedly tells the story..

10. As I like to say about Pat Buchanan
Like a broken clock, he is sometimes right. But I do not support or align myself with him because of his core beliefs and values.

I think the same can be said about the LaRoucheites. It is folly to sleep with these dogs.

11. definite folly. the "wolfs in sheep clothing type" that seem
reasonable at first glance are scarier to me than the obvious ones.

12. Hilarious attempts to "Infiltrate" the L-5 Society
http://www.oasis-nss.org/articles/2000/00Jun.html

<snip>
Larouche and his organization are passionately pro-nuclear and have a gift for concocting conspiracy theories that shift with the wind. Back in the early eighties they took a keen interest in the young L5 Society and their calls for a space-faring civilization utilizing solar power satellites to drive Earth-bound industries. Fearful perhaps, that we were a threat to their New World Order, they sent agents to infiltrate L5 chapters.

Apparently these agents did not blend in easily. They tended to be unusually stiff and lacking in social skills. Even among space enthusiasts, they had odd notions and discretely asked questions about the chapters as if expecting to learn about channels of foreign support. This created back-room gossip within the chapters for a little bit, then the infiltrators disappeared.

The results of their surveillance did not become clear until the mid-eighties. Then, Lyndon Larouche dedicated a half-hour paid TV broadcast to lambaste the L5 Society as agents of the Queen of England and her bevy of dope pushers and international terrorists. The audience at ISDC, many of whom were L5 Society members in the eighties, burst out into uncontrollable laughter as a videotape showed Larouche levying more and more outrageous accusations.
<snip>

When even L-5er's (yes I was one too) think you're too nerdy, it's time to get help.

14. ha...interesting!
they used to show up at meetings of radical left communist/socialist groups and physically beat them up with bats! I had a book once called "Lyndon LaRouche and the New American Fascism" that was loaded with stories.

every so often somebody will post a thread asking "what is wrong with Lyndon LaRouche?" usually sympathetic to him and i always think, holy crap where do i begin..

3. those people are nasty if you confront them about LaRouche
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 03:18 PM by jonnyblitz
one of them got very hostile when he tried to get me to sign a petition outside a "shop and save" grocery store in Norwich, CT and i told him "now way if he was involved with LaRouche" no matter what the petition was for. i thought he was going to physically attack me. he went OFF.

the LaRouche telemarketers are very aggressive also and prey on the elderly for whatever it is they are selling, or they used to, I havent heard of anybody receiving calls from them lately.

6. just a suggestion...
I personally prefer the term "LaRouchies" to "LaRoucheites." To me, the latter sounds rather staid and like a dictionary definition ("Larouche + ites" = "followers of Larouche"), whereas the former has a whole diminutive, three-year-old name-calling sound to it, which coincides with their level of intelligence.

7. Orthodox Jews don't blindly follow Israel. Are they anti-Semite?
I know a lot of Orthodox Jews who agree that Israel had no right to mistreat the Palestinians. They find it really stupid that anyone criticizing Israel is classified by some as an anti-Semite. A lot of Israeli's and Palestinians are holding joint peace rallies. They don't like the way Israel has treated the Palestinians and they are hoping for peace.

Is Amnesty International anti-Semite? How about the other international organizations who were saying Sharon should be brought up on charges for crimes against humanity. I know a Jew who wrote Sharon a letter, comparing Sharon to Hitler.

You are clearly not un-biased. Your lead posting is about making them look extreme. My concerns about what has been done to these people is what some are trying to do to liberals and to Kucinich supporters. When I have met the LaRouche supporters, they have always been polite and just handed out anti-Bush literature. I don't like witch hunts and I think it's about time the Democrats started sticking together and stopped attacking this group of Democrats or that group of Democrats.

9. Um, I didn't think I was "attacking this group of Democrats"
LaRouchites are not Democrats or liberals. Why do you assert this? And why are you accusing me of being out on a "witch hunt", just because I went to the bank and this group of rude, nasty lunatics blocked my path and got verbally abusive when I refused their literature?

Additionally, as previously stated, they were not being polite, and they were not handing out anti-Bu$h literature. They were handing out pro-LaRouche literature.

I've been around a while, and I remember when LaRouche was quite the anti-Semite, so I'm quoting from fairly accurate memory of 60s LaRouche.

Why are you defending LaRouche? I think he's still a marginal nut-job, which is about where he was in the 60s. But I think these poor children involved in this movement of his are brainwashed, to their present and future detriment.

I supported Kucinich too. Please don't spoil my image of him and tell me he's really a LaRouchite underneath it all!

16. Exactly, Democrats don't say thing like this:
"They're already beating up gays with baseball bats around the country! Children are going to playgrounds, they go in with baseball bats, and they find one of these gays there, pederasts, trying to recruit children, and they take their baseball bats and they beat them up pretty bad. They'll kill one sooner or later. In Chicago, they're beating up gays that are hanging around certain schools, pederasts; children go out with baseball bats and beat them up-which is perfectly moral; they have the civil right to do that! It's a matter of children's civil rights!"
