Here are some examples of Bush talking to those in emotional need
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 12:21 AM by Peake
From the DVD "GWB: Faith in the White House".

I wonder: What total in time has Bush used to give press releases REGARDING Cindy, not TO Cindy's face?

-James Robison, religious broadcaster friend of W.
“I do not for one moment believe that he would seek to manipulate others, nor impose his beliefs. I think that he, in the truest sense of the word, seeks to let the light shine, and its radiant effect, has a positive effect on others.” Give some radiant effect to Cindy please.

-Robert Woodson, Sr., President-National Center for Neighborhood Enterprises recounts:
Robert Woodson, Jr. became an advisor to Cheney and a member of HUD. He died in a car crash in 2003.
President Bush called him at home from AF1. “He consoled me for about seven minutes.” He called my daughter-in-law Michelle, read scripture, and prayed with her. She said: “Mr. President I’m just happy that you’re calling, but I know that you have heavy burdens.” He said, “Michelle, you are the one we need to be talking about, and concentrating on, not me, but if you need me, you know where we are.”
At two breakfasts, Bush told Robert Sr. that he missed Rob Jr., kissing him on the cheek and hugging him.

"I was just so moved that a man of such importance with all of the burdens of the world on his shoulders, that he could take the time to console us at this moment."

-Michael Minor, atty. calls Ann Richard’s “nasty, negative campaign in her previous election, baiting W. “He ran a positive campaign and won; people saw evidence of the truth in him; they saw his goodness, kindness, truthfulness, his self-control..”

-Bush took a photo-op with a 14-year-old girl whose mother was killed in the Towers, photo dated 5/4/2004. Bush was looking into the camera lens.

-Sam Haynam , then 12, wrote the Starlight Foundation requesting to meet president Bush due to having cystic fibrosis, and got his wish, visiting Washington one week before the start of the Iraq invasion.
“With all that was going on, the most powerful man in the world took time out of his schedule to meet with my son. It blew me away, it just really touched my father’s heart. At any time in this whole process he could have cancelled because we were right on the verge of going to war (sic) with Iraq, but he didn’t, he kept his word and he kept the meeting with my son and it really touched our family, and I know it really touched my son.”

George and Laura met with the family in the White House, and there were several photos, and he gave Sam a baseball with the presidential seal. Sam gave W. a bible with W’s name engraved in it.

-----

See, he CAN step up and do the right thing. Go W! Give Cindy a little love!

1. but that photo op doesn't make sense and she's going to ask
uncomfortable questions. Compassion has it's boundaries. :)

thing"? Surely you jest. His friends fault Cindy for not being "radiant" in her grief? Fuck them. I bet if Robison lost a child for no reason he wouldn't be too radiant either. You think Chimp showed that he understood the grief of a close personal friend in Mr. Woodson? Big deal, not only did our little Caligua refer to himself with the "Royal We" which is telling in and of itself, he probably also arranged the car accident and behaved sorta well out of guilt and fear. You think his exaggerated importance makes it a big deal that he spent 15 minutes with a dying kid? Most drunks lying in a puddle of piss on the sidewalk in Harlem would do as much for a dying 12 year old, and yet, Shrub only did it for the photo op. Did he wear his flight suit and crotch sock for the occasion? And furthermore he SHOULD have been attending to the business of the country, non stop and unto exhaustion and until even now, with no time for photo ops. If you think any of this represents "the right thing" you are too easily impressed.
