WASHINGTON — In the blue and gold elegance of the House speaker's private dining room, Jeremy Bouma bowed his head before eight young men and women who hope to one day lead the nation. He prayed that they might find wisdom in the Bible — and govern by its word.

Nearly every Monday for six months, as many as a dozen congressional aides — many of them aspiring politicians — have gathered over takeout dinners to mine the Bible for ancient wisdom on modern policy debates about tax rates, foreign aid, education, cloning and the Central American Free Trade Agreement.

What exactly does creed mean anyway? Race, creed, color, or national origin all seem to be about race.

5. Nonpolitical? Religion is the most political aspect of

politics. Our new "democratic Iraq" will be based on religion.

6. That seems to qualify as a violation of the regulations, to me too...

but it's probably only applicable to strictly partisan politics. Maybe they have a dem in there willing to pervert responsibility to constituents, making it 'bi-partisan'.

You'd think the whole concept of pushing for a theocracy would be political enough to disallow it.

Constitution until it is in tatters. Didn't they "crown" the Rev. Moon in one of the rooms in the Senate?
