Ok, something is bothering me and I'd like your best guesses on |
|
this. Regarding the torture pictures that Bushco will not release, Rummy was on TV saying they were some of the worst things he had ever seen, and some have said if they are released it will stir up people in the Middle East. As far as I know, sodomy on a young child is against the law here, and a lot of people who have seen the pictures say that's one crime being committed, the other I believe was just blatant murder. If Rummy is allowed to talk about these pictures, why isn't every Congresscritter in Wash screaming for the trial of these people when the people in Abu Graib have already been tried and sent to jail? It seems to me that EVERY elected official in Wash DC is aiding and abetting a criminal since not one of them will say anything about the pictures or call for a trial. Any ideas why?

pays attention to what the dems say (ie. Downing Street Memo). The repugs are brainwashed and think BushCo can do no wrong so they keep silent. It might "hurt morale" during war time.:puke:

4. Well, then, why wasn't the original torture pictures swept under the |
|
rug because of the same reasons? Because a young man who knew it was wrong blew the whistle. I posted on another thread, who took these pictures of sodomy & murder and what could have possibly been their motive for taking them? Rummy had already said NO CAMERAS so something just doesn't smell right here. If someone in Congress killed a cohort, would everybody who saw it say "don't say anything"? These pictures were taken for a reason and that may be what's bothering me the most. Why?

11. But this is a crime that apparently everybody in Wash knows about. |
|
Oh, shit. I'm getting all upset because it's quite obvious that BOTH sides, and even Jeffords, have sold their souls for re-election. Silly me to think that the Justice Dept. just might want to ask a few questions about this, or that the Pentagon might suggest an investigation. Ok, I get the picture. Nothing to see here, move along.

...why my Congressional Rep (R-Tim Murphy) wouldn't weigh in about the pictures is that "the people" he represents haven't asked. Isn't that perfect?
You are absolutely right in being bothered. I'm so bothered by "informing" Murphy's office about the Pentagon's pending big 9-11 rememberence parade, and police brutality here and abroad, I want to spit up. :puke:
I get the same "disgusted" response from Murphy's staff and was asked yesterday if I loved this country.
Every drop of blood, every tortured child, every dead soldier, every Iraqi's life blood is NOT ONLY on the White House lawn, it has seeped into just about every Congressional district (certainly the 18th here in Pittsburgh, home of the Tazer Kings...

and spoke to the District Director until I'm sure he thought I was completelly insane. You see, at the end of this diatribe of mine, I FELT like I WAS nuts. It was clear that they were quite practiced in answering someone "from the opposite isle".
Every tactic was used, and every time I let the DD have another extention to this 5 years of nonsense, I'm sure he was was really going to take what I said to heart.
These people have no hearts, and like the bumper sticker said, "I'd rather it be a bleeding heart instead of no heart".

14. The problem here is everybody is missing the point. Since when |
|
is it ok for so many people on both sides to cover up blatant crimes? If this is how this country is going to be run then maybe we should all start looking for another country to move to because if the people in Wash can just sweep a crime, a serious crime, under the rug and make sure we don't see PICTURES of the crime, then we are no longer a great country. And I'm complaining about both sides; more about the Dems.

...when I started school in the 50's, I was led to believe that any government, throughout the world, that was found complicit in both torture and murder, would be opposed by the "shining light" of nations, which I was blessed to live in...to find MY country so engaged is-and the term is important-"enough to make a Nazi gag"....During the Rape of Nanking in china a Nazi functionary in China contacted Berlin and begged the Germans to distance themselves from Japanese actions there...he was censured, and so shall we all be-for now...Later accounting may shed light.
on edit:no umbrage taken...I don't respond to lightweight threads-you are right and this is important...

...Yep, it was....the sole stain on our mantle was "Tail gunner Joe" McCarthy, who was closest to todays PNACer...Just imagine a country where both true democrats and republicans could alternate in office and have each build on the accomplishments of the former...Democrats pushing social agendas and Republicans attending to the needs of a vibrant economy...and each respecting the other AND the voices of the electorate..It seems SO long ago....

29. The GOP is obstructing justice and even taking part in crimes |
|
by blocking the investigations. In a sane world - well it never would have come to this - BUSH WOULD BE IMPEACHED. His administration worked hard, very hard, for this war and they haven't been held accountable for the tremendous harm they've done. Everyone helping them get away with this is complicit in the crimes and is obstructing justice.

What if the pictures cause some people in the Mideast to use those pictures as an excuse to torture or cut a few heads off innocent American soldiers.
what if the military is already dealing with the soldiers involved in the pictures and they are already doing life n prison or whatever. Then no one is aiding and abetting anything
does anyone really need to see these pictures after the first batch came out in June 2004.
what good does it do to see even worse.
I'm gonna tell you something...after I saw the first batch from last year with all that humiliating stuff, I will not look at the news for a few days if I hear this next batch is coming out. Why do I want to look at something far worse? The first batch made me sick! I know people are capable of torture and murder...why do I want to see pictures of it? It's like I know there were bodies falling of the buildings on 9-11. Do I need to see closeups of the bodies splattered on the sidewalks. NO WAY.
PEACE!

Those involved should be prosecuted and the pictures entered in evidence in the trial, then sealed. They should NOT be splattered across CNN (or Al Jazerra)... it serves no good purpose, raises the risk for US POWs, and is disrespectful to the victims in the pictures.

I remember hearing some Iraqi man talk about this...he was one of the victims of the first set of pictures and he basically said he couldn't go back to where he lived because it was publicized and he felt like a fool to the people of his village. And the people of his village were telling him he wasn't a man anymore and crap like that.
I know that people want these pictures out because it hurts the administration and I understand that, but the consequences may be deaths of more innocent people. If the pictures came out and it brought the troops home faster, that's one good that could come out of it, but I think it is dubious at best that that is what Bush would do in any case. The thing is I can't see any good coming out of this. Just like they don't show grisly evidence of crimes in the news, doesn't the same apply here? That's my two cents. Peace

30. It's not that I want to see the pictures - the point is everyone in |

Wash DC has seen the pictures and have helped in suppressing this evidence of a crime. I won't look at the pictures if they out either, but these pictures are evidence of apparently several crimes and I assume they show who did those crimes. Why is everyone in Wash not screaming about the crimes? If they are under some kind of gag order I could understand that, but Rummy talked about them on the news so wouldn't he be under the same gag order? If what I've heard is true, that one of the crimes is blatant murder and the DOJ and the Att Gen hasn't said a word. Just WTF?
