Can someone please give me a reason or reasons why.......
the Democrats have not been able to capitalize on *'s falling approval ratings, this fucked up unnessary war, high gas prices, bad economy, hatred from the world, I could go on and on...

Why are the Democrats just sitting on theirs behinds and not speaking up?

1. Because they're actually Republicans. They're just doing their job -
going through the motions and doing just enough to lose.

8. Democrats are not Republicans
Oh give me a break! That's so easy. Think harder next time. There are a lot of Dems out there that are fighting the good fight. I'm frustrated as hell with them too and can't figure out why we don't just stand up and hit below the belt like the Reps. We're in the fight of our lives and we have to stop being so damned polite or politically cautious and correct. Time to get dirty.

But don't questions the Dems integrity. Yeah, there are some who might as well cross over, but the rest of us are still in it.

No, they just act like them. But you can spot them because they're
wearing cheaper suits.

23. Maybe... some do
You can also spot them if you look at their legislative package. Look at the bills they author, their vote record. You can get a good sense of them by doing that.

There are most definitely some chicken-shit dems, and some who are afraid to vote their conscience or who abstain to avoid it altogether. But they're not the majority.

Hope I don't sound pollyanna, but I see it every day.

One bad apple....

Coward!

Like we should listen to anything a low poster coward has to say!

Go someplace else and you'll find more support!

2. Wouldn't that give the media another way to change the story? Dems HAVE
been speaking out in various ways, but, their most serious charges against Bush go unREPORTED. And I haven't seen any Dem proposa a solution that the media didn't pile on with the WH and insult their contribution as a political stunt for the angry base.

If a Democrat spoke out SPECIFICALLY just to hammer Bush, the media vilifies them. They propose ideas and the media doesn't hear them or discuss alternative proposals.

See, it's easier for them to follow the Rove mantra, The Democrats don't have a plan - while ignoring those Dems who HAVE offered reality based plans.

12. This is bullshit, blm
If they wanted face time, they could get assertive about it. Christ, Biden gets enough of it.

The usual apologies for Kerry's vapid, limp protestations, while the mother of a slain son makes the stand he used to.

17. Biden, Bayh and Lieberman are the only Dems who get repeated bookings.
Kerry, Kennedy and Boxer DID speak in support of Sheehan and no media wants their support to be heard.

You can see it any way you want, but, your charges are rarely based in actual facts.

Wes Clark has been speaking about it since before the damn war and the corporate whore media routinely ignores him.

16. the media is LAZY!
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 10:01 AM by ginnyinWI
Our short-attention-span public needs the easy stuff. The media is lazy. It wants an easy story, complete with pictures and soundbites and then it will act.

Last week they got what they wanted and did run some good coverage: CNN Headline News showed two clips of John Kerry criticizing the administration and defending the Democratic Party. His speech fit their need for hard-hitting statements put into easy sound bites and complete with video-- and they ran it every half-hour all day!

One word: Lobbyists! They are the ones who run this Country, and they of course, are run by the corporations.

9. because they haven't put forth a coherent argument about what they believe
that organizes all these different ideas and presents a better plan for what American should be then what the Republicans are doing.

The Republicans are keeping America safe, so it's OK if they make a few mistakes along the way.

If the Democrats could put forward an argument that, for example, polarizing wealth and destroying the working man is destroying America and that each of these "mistakes" is actually a mechanism in that destruction, then people might start seeing Democrats not as the occassional critics of Republicans, but as the party with a better idea about the direction government and society should take.

first before they put their own political career on the line. It's pathetic how they just sit there and turn the other cheek. Maybe they love getting slapped around? Hard to say...

28. I don't know. If anyone can get close enough to energize them by shaking
or slapping their collective heads, maybe that would help.

They are first and foremost "coveryourassers" not "stickyournecksoutandtakeariskforwhatyoutrulybelieveandletthechipsfallwheretheymay" people.

Their main concern is to get re-elected, not effect some goal or greater good that is greater than their own personal political career.
