Gen. Myers to recieve Architect of Peace Award
The distinguished chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Richard B. Myers, will receive the Library's 2005 Architect of Peace award at a gala tribute dinner on Thursday, November 3 in the Library's elegant new White House East Room.

November 3 is coincidentally the 36th anniversary of President Nixon's triumphant Silent Majority address which drew the largest television audience of any Presidential speech in history. The overwhelmingly positive public reaction made it clear that despite heated domestic controversy, President Nixon had the approval of the American people and the mandate to conduct the war in Vietnam as he saw fit.

4. Nixon never had a sense of humor...
... and now, I'm quite sure that he must not have had a sense of irony, either, if this is what his library is doing.

Geez, Lily Tomlin was right. No matter how cynical one gets, one can't keep up.

5. Well, it is the NIXON library
Old Tricky Dick always seemed to have a lot of problems with his alleged Quaker faith.

Generals in the Army are not about peace. They like to say they are, and they fool many gullible and credulous people. But peace is not achieved at the point of a gun or through a bombsight. I really wish the military would settle for tricking out their personnel with the medals they award to each other and leave the title of peacemaker to the people who actually practice it.

7. What about the war games?
C-Span | March 24 2005

Rumseld and Myers forced to shuffle uncomfortably and fumble for words as McKinney gets in their face about three issues seldom mentioned in official circles.

From a reader: Here is a Video of Representative Cynthia McKinney's Exchange on the House Hearing on FY06 Dept. of DefenseBudget, March 11th, 2005.

Watch how McKinney asks questions about Dyncorp slave rings, the 3 trillion missing from the pentagon and the 911 wargames.

Notice the faces Rumsfeld, Myers, Jones, Hunter and others make!!

9. I actually saw this live - prompted my purchase of a TIVO
I'm a MIHOPer btw so it's even more of an irony for me to see Myers getting any award with the word "peace" in the title.
