LTTE in The Day: It Won't Hurt To Show A Little Gratitude (to Bush)

Americans have a problem with gratitude. That feeling of owing someone a debt that cannot be repaid causes what must be akin to physical pain. At least that's the opinion I reached after reading the vitriol being poured out on our president.

Yes, our president. The commander in chief who has ensured no repeat of Sept. 11, 2001. When all rational expectation says there should have been a second blow to our republic, the president has kept us safe from that horror. Single-handedly? Of course not. But if you blame him personally for all the bad, must you not credit him for all the good?

Look, I don't care if you don't like George W. Bush. But give the office and the man their due. And what is due is our gratitude and our respect. And that gratitude is for preventing a second terrorist attack, for waging the war against our enemies that we all told him to wag, and for preserving the freedom and peace of our America.

And that respect is for the highest office in a land of free people, and for a good man doing what he thinks is best for America. Still disagree? OK, that's your right, which is preserved and defended by people like your president. But be grateful.

This guy is like a bad used car salesman trying to pass the Kool-aid.

1. We Do Owe Gratitude To Dubya
for me, I think Christine Aguilera says it best

"Makes me that much smarter...so thanks for making me a fighter"

Until Dubya, I was never politically active.

3. If most of the houses in your neighborhood have been burglarized,
do you feel more safe or less safe from burglary?

Let's say your house is the biggest one in the neighborhood, with the greatest number of material possessions.

Still feel safe?

4. I wonder when this jerk
expressed gratitude for the booming economy under Clinton?

Or if he "respected the office" under WJC?

5. Oh, puleeeze!
We've spent billions of dollars on the Bear Patrol.
We have not seen any bears!
Therefore, the Bear Patrol is working!

Shut the fuck up, Steve, and wake up to the fact that this idiot STARTED A WAR WHICH HAS KILLED THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE IN ORDER TO STEAL THEIR OIL. And, if that's not stupid enough, oil prices are the HIGHEST THEY'VE EVER BEEN!

EVER!!!

(I would LOVE to respect the office of the Presidency! But the person sitting in that office needs to EARN that respect!)

6. Hmmm ... that's funny ...
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 07:04 AM by Drifter
I can not recall a single credible terrorist plot that has been thwarted due to the efforts of this phonie war on terra. His illegal war in Iraq has created a haven / training ground for terrorists, and a death trap for our soldiers. Our military is so far stretched and under equiped, that there would be no way to properly respond when we DO get hit again.

To give this man his due, is exactly my wishes. He should be investigated, impeached, indicted, and imprisoned.

Cheers
Drifter

7. A comparison
That's like the Germans being thankful for having Hitler in power in the 1940's, for "securing" them....

11. Did he say the same about Clinton
when all the RW's were attacking *him*? I don't remember hearing much talk about "respecting the office," etc. when Clinton was the president. They called him a rapist, a murderer, and all kinds of unsavory names. I recall thinking that I had never seen such utter hatred and disrespect for a president - and this was just for having an affair!

Bush has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to earn or deserve our respect. The damage he has done to this country is beyond anything I could have imagined a so-called "president" could do. F Bush and f his zombie followers!!!!

End of rant.
