Poll question: Who's happy Saddam (who gave women equal rights) is being replaced by

Islamic extremists who are eliminating women's rights in Iraq? So, how are the women better off now in Iraq? Saddam may have been bad in many regards, but his second in command was a Christian, and women attended college, became professionals and leaders and had equal rights under his government.

I read that they should consider bringing SH back! Not that it will ever happen, but the writer (Neil Clark, if I remember correctly) thinks SH is the only one who can unite the country again. NC claims Iraq needs a strongman, and SH is it! Under this "Sound of Music" fan, women had rights, wore make-up, at university they discussed "Pride and Prejudice," etc. etc. Now that his awful sons are gone, and he must have learned from his mistakes, what do you all think? Of course, it will never happen.

2. Saddam was a monster. If you fought him politically he would kill
not just you but your whole family too. Same way the Nazis ran the camps.

I saw someone discuss woman's rights in Iraq. Seems Saddam inherited liberal laws regarding women and just didn't change them.

Saddam is not an option. Remember the gassed kids? He did that. He should have been taken out in the early 1990s. Better yet - the USA should have been supporting democracy instead of strongmen in the 1980s. Carter tried to push that with Iran. The problem is, as always, the wrong wrong wrong policies of neocons.

3. Thank you!
Sure, Saddam gave women equal rights, as in women were killed in equal numbers as men. Unfortunately, statements like these are what the RRW uses to beat us over the head and say we support dictators, We need a better way to respond to these statements. Tito could probably unite the fomer Yugoslavia. Doesn't mean we should resurrect him. Of course, we should have listened to Carter, but now it'stoo late.

4. There's something really wrong
with touting the virtues of Saddam Hussein, regardless of how you feel about the war.

Yea, murderous monster! Hoody Hoo!

:puke:

I don't have to be a fan of Chavez either to think it wrong of Robertson to call for his assassination.

5. Locking...
I hate to be a pill and lock this before the real nastiness starts, but there is so much wrong with this "poll" on so many levels.
