On a scale of 1 to 10, how pathetic is this?
"So long as I am president, we will stay, we will fight and we will win the war on terrorism," he told a supportive audience of National Guard members and their families in a sports arena in this Boise suburb. Pulling out now, he said, would "embolden the terrorists and create a staging ground to launch more attacks against America."

"The speech came in response to intensifying anti-war protests that have put Bush on the defensive lately."

How purely incredibly pathetic is it that some middle-aged Mom can put Bush on the defensive, but our supposedly professional politicians cannot now, never have, and don't seem to even try to do that?

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say that rates about a 10 on the scale of how pathetic our dem politicians are.

As I posted in another thread on this topic:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2034744#2034807

Please join me in demanding this from our dem representatives. If you're a dem pol and you want money from me, support from me, work from me, then you have to do the following:

1. Get on message -- and that message is that the republican party and its president are corrupt, have bad values, and are incompetent -- not in those words of course, but that should be the message.

2. March lockstep goddammit! Do it now. If you want to respect other ideas within the party you can do that AFTER we win some elections and become the majority.

3. Present a plan to the American people and make it easy to understand. None of this blithering nuanced qualified "I don't know if I am for the war or against it" crap we keep seeing.

4. Attack, attack, attack the opposition EVERY SINGLE DAY. For gawd's sake, if the blogs can do it, why can't our pols? There is material out there every day. Use it.

2. To be fair, a few have
Take Conyers, Waters, Jackson Lee and Waxman... hey wait... I just named three people from the Congressional Black Caucus.. surprise, surprise!

So when we ask them to do stuff, tell them to model themselves after the Congressional Black Caucus...

4. I know I know
But if you are trying to sound a bit practical, there are some good models that they could follow which would make the explanation a lot easier.. not that they'd do it...

also I can say that I agree with you on the Senate..geez... all we got is Teddy and he's often dismissed as loony, of course he says a lot of majorly accusatory things the wuite frankly are truthful.

also... is there such a way to fund the Congressional Black Caucus? I mean I knwo a lot of people are sick of contributing to DLC waistoids... I can guarantee would go to great candidates!

5. That's because blacks are doing 3x their share of dying over there
(40% of servicemembers are black vs. 12% of US population) and rich, (mostly) white people are profiting immensely from it. I'd be pissed too (more than I already am, if that's possible).

6. That Speech Is Off The Charts.......
When we are talking about Iraq, who attacked who first. There weren't any terrorist in Iraq until the bush administration's stupidity and lies created them.

8. You missed the point
... we already KNOW Bush is a lying SOB. The problem is that OUR party spends most of its time hiding in a corner instead of pointing that out.
