Mike Huckabee is going to run for President. He will be very tough. |
|
Make no mistake. I am against this fucker in every circumstance but he will be formidable.
Being from Arkansas, I know slick pols and the Huckster is as slick as the Big Dog in his own way. He has governed the state in a very centrist way and even led some fights to do things that the right wingers disapproved of ... specifically trying to find some way to pay for our school systems since the state constitutional provisions for funding are unequal and do not enable an equal opportunity for education as mandated by the state constitution.
His "street cred" with the righties is cemented by his former gig as a Baptist minister even though he has done many things that they don't like ...
BUT ...
unlike Frist, he doesn't carry the baggage from intense efforts to get face time on the Evening News and saying outlandish shit (She doesn't look brain dead to me) plus, he is a sitting governor. I think this bastard could cause us some heartache, I really do.
He's doing New Hampshire soon. This could get interesting.
Thoughts?

1. Pictures of him performing at some FR |
|
function will bring him down. When it turns out that he openly associates with FR and people learn about FR they will assume Huckabee is a Freeper. That will be his downfall.
He can have a long career promoting weight loss and covenant marriage when his political career is over.

If so, we better dig them up because this is one slick motherfucker that they'll have to drive a stake through his political heart to shut him down.

The theo-cons may like that, but average Republicans and Independents are going to consider that as nutty as a fruit cake.

Do not like his position on immigration. Apparently, he has bent to Tyson's will on a few things in that area.

among a lot of small businesspeople, since sales taxes on their services were imposed a year ago (and do you know how nuts it is to figure out the sales tax on pest control services when you have to charge them according to location-a minimum of a dozen different county/city taxes in addition to the state tax!) In NW AR the small schools are still mad about consolodation, too.

|
Also, he is a great speaker - next to Clinton, probably the best I've ever heard. And no, I don't want him for President. A lot of my family in AR were very supportive of him (most voted for him) but have turned on him for a variety of reasons.

He is extremely weak on illegal immigration. In my opinion illegal immigration will be a huge issue in 2008, and with a record like that he will have a hard time in the primary and general.

He and I went to college in the same small Arkansas town, me to a state university and he to a Baptist university. This was in the early 70s and, as it turns out, we didn't travel in the same circles. ( :smoke: )
But this is one slick goober and he can play both ends against the middle so sweetly that they don't even realize he's doing it. I think the rotten bastard would be a handful for whoever we nominate.

Ol' Mike does have some pretty substantial ethics violations in his closet, btw. He was a payola taking motherfucker for quite a while.
As a preacher, he was used to "love offerings" (is that what it's called when a client pays a prostitute?) and there was quite a stir for a while as this stuff came to light in Arkansas.

27. three or just two southern candidates split southern primary votes.. |
|
but how many neocons win votes in Republican primaries like New York or California? What if Senator Allen, Majority Leader Frist, Governor Bush, or even Newt Gingrich jumped into those primaries?
Republicans think power is only an advantage, but ultimately they'll suffer from a deceitful, sly, and treacherous past. But if Huckster were ultimately nominated, this will give our nominee a huge advantage in 2008!! :toast:
