I think we're headed for civil war in Iraq. |
|
BushCo is clueless. The whole thing is about to spin totally out of control. What does Bush intend to do if everybody just starts shooting each other in the streets?
I was watching a piece on the news that makes it clear that we're just an inch away from civil war in Iraq - the Shiites are fighting Shiites now, and al Sadr is involved again.
Could BushCo be ANY more incompetent than they already are?

5. True, they've had a lot of violence, but it's been insurgents. |
|
What I'm talking about is all out warfare between groups, like what happened in Somalia. That could get REALLY ugly.

7. Who are these insurgents |
|
and whom are they fighting?
The insugents are in different groups (Sunnis, Shias and the Kurds), fighting each other as well the common enemy - the US plus their collaborators - those who join the Iraq Police!
To me that IS CIVIL WAR!!

3. I was told just the opposite |
|
by someone who spends a lot of time in Iraq. He said that this administration is scaring us into believing that without our troops in Iraq, civil war will ensue. The reality is they are more united than ever now, fighting the invasion of the United States, than ever before. There are marriages between the different cultures that our media never talks about. Don't buy it. There's more chances of civil war breaking out here in the United States.

the civil war will be Cindy Sheehan's fault. Bush will have his prop Mom to prove it.

6. That's very bad. Bush isn't smart enough to figure out that the last thing |
|
our troops want to be is the foreigner in a Civil War. So he will not call for an immediate withdrawl. I think he'll wait until the last one has been killed and then start yelling, Nuke 'em!
Jr. wants to see a Mushroom Cloud like it was Santa Claus.

9. Would more troops in the beginning to secure things have helped |
|
do you think? Going with the general's assessment that we had too few (can't remember his name). Or was it destined to be this mess regardless.
I still wonder if we could use more troops in there just to stabilize things enough so that when we withdraw, those poor soldiers don't get their asses shot off completely.
Saigon, here we come.
Stupid fuckers.
And now I just read in the editorial section about a soldier contaminated with DU, passing it on to his kids. They're just abandoning these guys to their fate, not even telling them there might be a problem. And if the soldiers are contaminated, what about the Iraqi people?

10. The al-Sadr stuff surprises me |
|
Until a few days ago I thought he was on the government's side. I thought he was their ace in the hole if a Civil War broke out, and I thought he would bide his time until he could take power legally in a few years.
If he's against the government, it's an official mess.

11. Sadr is a nationalist |
|
The real split in Iraq is not between religious or regional interests as much as between those who support the occupation and the tiny few who don't.
There have been recent fights where Sunni and Shia have joined together to oppose the Zarqawi type nutters, and also to push for a nationalist response to the occupiers drive toward civil war. Sadr is forming an alliance with Sunni nationalists.
Obviously things are very confused, perhaps deliberately, for us. We are lead to believe that the struggle is between the religious factions, but there is little evidence that the bulk of Iraqis see things in this way.

12. The Shiites are battling Shiites. |
|
The whole mess is imploding, but Bunnypants will ignore it, hold the fake elections, and get the hell out of dodge in time for the 2006 elections. But we all know there are permanent bases going up and Halliburton has dug in pretty good. We aren't really leaving. Since we are going to fix this election too, why not cut out the middle man and have BushCo just mail them the results in advance.
