From local Democratic Party newsletter:

CBS Affiliate Will Not Air Sheehan Ad Because There Is “No Proof” Of Absence Of WMD In Iraq...

Boise, Idaho affiliates CBS and FOX have refused to air a television ad in which Cindy Sheehan asks President Bush questions about the Iraq war.

Sheehan “claims the President lied about, among other things, the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq,” said Jeff Anderson the Vice President of sales at Fisher Broadcasting Inc., which owns KBCI (CBS). “There is no proof that we are aware of regarding the truthfulness of her claim. We require proof of claims such as this. Until that is provided, our station will not carry this ad.”

To view the ad, go to www.gsfp.org and click on “Watch Cindy’s Message.”

14. They probably didn't, wouldn't need to in deep-blue Idaho.
My argument probably wouldn't hold water, but I can't imagine them holding the Swift-boaters to the same level of scrutiny.

24. The swift liar ads never actually had to "air" to be effective....
....since the corporate media made them a "news" story and aired them for free. Damned hypocrites.

25. Good point!
Too bad it doesn't work in reverse. We could create a controversial ad, and it would get plenty of air-time, too. Only problem is that the media would include plenty of commentary, and invite several right-wing talking heads to claim outrage and refute everything. Even if our ad were totally accurate, even if we had PROOF of its accuracy, it would be shot to pieces!

Its the tried and true Republican debate method: ignore the issue, attack the messenger!

2. They Air Bush Lies
There is no proof of any of his claims that led us to war in Iraq, but people can blow anyone they want in this country. So Boise affiliates get down on your righteous knees!

They just haven't found them yet, and stopped looking ages ago.

Fucking CBS. I wish they'd send Julie Chen to go look for WMD in Iraq. :D

At the very least it is true that there are no WMDs in Iraq. So, what's wrong with Cindy or anyone else for that matter, asking him why he said there were?

15. But they never heard any Dems with media access talk about it- so...
...they can get away with pretending it does not exist, since most of their viewers never heard any Democrats, Republicans or media people talking much about it either.

20. I dont know what that means...
...I'm just saying- now you know why I wanted Democrats to talk aboout this.

Since the DEMs with media access would not talk about it on TV, where the average Joe could learn about it, the GOP/media can easily get away with saying things like "no proof Bush lied."

Everyone treated me like I was crazy or not a good DEM for saying this- but I was right. Those top Democrats do not understand media at all.

19. No surprise--Idaho is heavily Republican
They're one of the reddest red states--anything that reflects poorly on Der Shrubbenfuhrer won't see the light of day. Boise's local newspaper coverage leading up to sElection 2000 was proof enough of that.
There is no proof that we are aware of regarding the truthfulness of her claim.
blm had the same thought I did--apparently Anderson's never heard (or chose to remain willfully ignorant) of the Downing Street Memo.

March 24,2004.....

http://magic-city-news.com/article_1203.shtml

On Wednesday night, from the comfort and safety of a black tie affair in Washington, a smiling George W. Bush entertained his audience with a scripted joke about the war in Iraq. Within hours of this levity, two more U.S. soldiers died fighting in Mr. Bush’s funny war.

Mr. Bush was performing at the 60th annual dinner for the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association. During the presentation of a slide show - featuring photos of Bush and his people, with Mr. Bush providing the humorous captions - a picture was shown of the president looking under furniture, searching in vain for some misplaced item. He then provided the side-splitting caption: "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere."

Of course as usual the "Liberal Media" gave Bush yet another pass on this one too. Ahhh, just George cutin' up a bit--and his buddy Joe Lieberman....

Bullshit....
