Cindy Sheehan to Shift Focus to Congress, Starting with Tom Delay
Cindy Sheehan to Shift Focus to Congress, Starting with Tom Delay
August 26th, 2005

Cindy Sheehan announced today that she plans to focus her attention on Congress, starting with Bush’s buddy House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

One of DeLay’s Texas district offices would likely be the first stop, she said. That would be about a 5.5 hour drive from Bush’s ranch in Crawford, where he is on a month-long vacation.

“I think our first stop might be Tom DeLay’s office,” she said, surrounded by supporters. “I just wanted to let him know so he’ll be in his office when we get there.”

1. Too bad she warned him she was coming. No doubt he'll be
hiding out with the dub by the time she gets there.

2. The new RW spin will be:
"Ms Sheehan had every right to protest over her son's death, and I supported her in that (quick check of the records shows that's a lie). But now the special interests have got a hold of her and she's becoming a laughingstock. What has Congress got to do with her dead kid?"

12. That's exactly what they'll say.
What's the correct response?

15. Well first off laughing at a grieving mother is an abomination

(they like that word). And if what she is saying about the war is so wrong why has the pResident's approval ratings dropped so low?

EDIT to add: Her special interest is the death of her son and the continuing deaths of soldiers in Iraq. Her special interest is putting an end to this unproductive war.

5. Oh Larkspur, I hope so!
Joe Lieberman's house is only about 5 blocks from my house in the Westville section of New Haven. I would love to go with her to have a chat with Joe and Hadassah. She could stay in my guest bedroom!

6. I am hoping that that Loser loses his seat in Congress next year
Nick Lampson is planning to run against him. He's the guy who DeLay removed when he redistricted that area.

10,000 votes last time.

I'd love to join Cindy protesting Delay. Is there an itinerary yet?

next year. His victory would be cheered far and wide and begin to remind the rest of the country what Texas REALLY is.

17. Rumor in California forum says,
she may run for Diane Frankenstein's seat. I sure hope so......but on TV she said she was not seeking any political office. I sure hope she changes her mind. She would give old Diane a run for her BIG money!! I'm from California and Diane is my rep. so that goes double for me!!!!

16. I'm I the only one that wishes she would just stick to her original
message??

By doing this, she is letting * off the hook.

Stay in Crawford Cindy. He left because he couldn't take the pressure of you being there ruining his vacation. Make it so he has to continue to run away for the rest of it.

Poor Georgie, he's going to be so tired, how is going to do all of that hard work?

18. There is only so much she can do after a certain point in Crawford
Eventually, her protest will become old news and it will cease to be covered. Then she will be standing in ditches filled with fire ants and people will have already gone on to the next big thing and not care. (Remember, September is the month when TV unveils its new season.). To keep the issues in the news, Cindy has to keep making news. Hence the change of focus.
