8. be cautious about reading too much into these numbers

two points:

first, the "not sure" vote is far more than the difference between Dems and republicans ... i think most of those are likely to "lean" republican ... that's because Democrats are far more likely to oppose bush and are less likely to be "not sure" ... i think that many republicans are not sure what to do right now ... they know bush has screwed up everything but it's not easy to just switch parties ... so the poll does not seem to me to be all that clear ...

second, most national polls show bush's poll numbers plummeting ... but the Congress, Dems and republicans included, does even worse ... bad news for the republicans has NOT translated into good news for Democrats ...

the bottom line is that Democrats don't have their act together for the midterms and it's going to kill us if that remains the case ... the Party seems rudderless, leaderless and timid right now ... and on top of that, we seem unable to find any unity ... we've got big problems folks ... i'd be very cautious about reading too much good news into these polls ...
