A Tale of Two Protests (Akron Beacon Journal)
From the article at (regist. req.): http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/2005/08/28/news/nation/12498270.htm

(my comment) How pro-Bush protesters are treated at Camp Casey:

A few Bush supporters went to the edge of the anti-war camp Saturday, trying to remove some of the hundreds of white crosses bearing fallen soldiers' names. They had a list from families who did not want their sons' or daughters' names associated with Sheehan's group.

Sheriff's deputies said they could remove the name tags but not the crosses, so the group removed a few tags and left without incident.

-------------------------------

Contrast that with the treatment of "Pro-Peace" protesters at Camp Kool-Aide/Hate Cindy:

There also were some heated moments at the pro-Bush rally when Bush supporters mistakenly identified two people as war protesters. The two walked in with a sign that read ``Say No to War -- Unless a Democrat is President.''

Many Bush supporters saw only the top of the sign and believed the men were war protesters, so they began shouting and chasing the pair out. One man tore up their signs.

When Will Marean of Minneapolis kept repeating that he was on the Bush side, one Bush supporter shook his hand and apologized.

-------------------------------

Uh, whoops, that was one of their own - guess they were so tolerant of freedom of speech that they stopped just shy of spilling blood.

Please note, we're still blankly smeared as "anti-War" - not as "Pro-Peace" or "Anti-Policy".

1. It is a good thing
those pro * supporters did not have a sign that made them look like homosexuals or something. They would have been kicked to death before the could say they were on the side of *. They can not even make signs that are appropriate for the occasion. Ignorant and dangerous. What a great combination!

2. I bet that the freeptards with the "No War unless..." sign were totally
against returning the duly and legally elected President of Haiti to his office, thus deposing a militaristic dictator . . . all without a drop of blood. (1993 - under Clinton).

3. Those were Protest Warriors who fell afoul the Freepers.
They turn out to counterprotest, but their signs are often very confusing. I laughed my head off when I heard what happened to these guys at the Freeper event.

At Camp Casey I, the word was that it was Freepers who acted stupid and got arrested. The cops dividing anti-war protesters from counter-protesters now typically face the Freepers, knowing where trouble will come from.

And while the Freepers were given the Crawford H.S. football field for their rally, and allowed to park all over Crawford, many of us on Cindy's side were sent to McGregor (7 miles from Crawford) to park and catch a shuttle to the Camp Caseys. Oh well, it will be the Freepers who will have parked in front of Crawford residences, outraging the residents.
