Cindy Sheehan and Families of the Fallen

Audio for this story will be available at approx. 6:00 p.m. ET

Talk of the Nation, August 29, 2005 · Cindy Sheehan has become a leading voice of anti-war activism since beginning a lengthy vigil near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. The media, pro- and anti-war protesters have descended on the vigil, now known as "Camp Casey", in honor of the son she lost to military action in Iraq. Listeners and other guests weigh in on Sheehan's message.

Guest:

Cindy Sheehan, founding member of Gold Star Families for Peace; mother of Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, killed in action on April 4, 2004 in Sadr City, Baghdad

4. Well that was short, anyone know why she couldn't speak longer?
Now that Idiot Gary Quals (Camp Quals) is on now, He already sounds like an ass by what he's said so far.

7. She told NPR during the conversation
that she could only stay on the line for two more minutes. She didn't cut off abruptly. At the end she said she had to go and hung up but that was after she had already said she had a limited amount of time.

I hope it was for something really important because she ended up giving up free air time that went to the opposing side instead. Plus it gave the announcer a chance to bash her a bit.

3. ooooooo
Just caught the tail end. That was a bit awkward. Crappy phone connection and major misunderstanding between them and the scheduling of the interview.

She handled it gracefully and so did he but ouch.

5. I hope someone will explain what was so important that she has had to...
...cut of the interview like that, that sounded bad, but not as bad as this Quals guy.

6. Not one of the parents interviewed on this program agrees with Cindy.

Heartbreaking to hear these people speaking about their dead children. Not surprising that they cannot make the leap Cindy has -- it is too terrible to contemplate that "death in vain."

9. They must have got the word out that Quals was going to be on this show .
I'm a regular listener to this show, and I don't remember them mentioning this, that Cindy was going to be on, but then again, I do have a poor short term memory.

I also think you might be on to one of the major "other" reasons, Cindy is ahead of the rest of these parents in the "Grief Process," Still in the denial stage.

Plus this Quals guy has been totally brain washed by the RW Propaganda, he hit all the 2004 campaign propaganda talking points in what he said. Everything else he said came directly from FOX "news" too.
