Even David Brooks was mad at Bush
on Friday nite.

He, and some others now, feel that the only way to beat this insurgency is to go in and win one area and then stay there and slowly spread out from that area.

Brooks was just going off on Bush and his speeches calling for "freedom and freedom and freedoM" and not offering any alternatives to what we are doing right now - that isn't working at all.

I've never heard Brooks go off like that.

1. Amazing. And Thune vaguely threatened to switch parties...what next

Fallwell will turn on him:rofl: Well, you never know now a days.

I get a kick out of Brooks. He looks so serious and "urgent" yet he's been wrong all along. I think that we are, actually, trying to pacify Baghdad, which is a big part and we can't do that.

What a zoo!

3. Thune's back in the fold
Ellsworth AFB will continue to protect . . . well, something or other in the middle of Nowhere, South Dakota for years to come. And folks around there will continue to be proud of their self-made work ethic funded by taxes from Blue areas.

2. But the pipeline isn't confined to just one area of Iraq
This isn't about freedom.

It's about oil.

And the oil is everywhere.

Otherwise, they could just start with the road between Baghdad and the airport.

4. Federalism is the word of "oil."
And that's what the fight is all about right now. The Sunnis don't want to have their own autonomous area - all they have is sand and gravel.

5. David Brooks - a 25-watt bulb getting 4 watts of energy.
Such an embarrassment to the RW. Not to the NYT which seems to take any and all embarrassments in stride as SOP.

6. Mr. Brooks must be getting tired of his job.
Scooping the poop along the elephant's parade route must be getting to him.
