New, lower bar of expectations for Iraq, comes out in *'s speech
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 11:51 AM by Chi
Near the end of *'s speech commemorating V-J day, * lets fly the Administrations new expectations for Iraq.

'We will complete the mission, of creating the foundation for peace in Iraq.'

(I'm quoting from memory, but it was about 5 min's from the end.)

What ever happened to 'creating a stable, and peaceful democracy'?
:grr:

Fuc*ing Assholes.

(edit to remove 'stable' from in front of 'foundation')

3. No threat, no weapons, no nucular program
No programs for weapons, no direct threat to the U.S., no imminent danger of a mushroom cloud, no shining beacon of democracy in the Middle East (What, the U.S. doesn't shine brightly enough to be discerned there?), no democracy to speak of at all, no peace, no pluralistic society.

Nope, we spent hundreds of billions of dollars, wasted tens of thousands of lives, and squandered our national honor and prestige to begin to create a stable foundation. And as any builder will tell you, you can't tell much about what's going to go up just from a look at the foundation. One story or two? How many bedrooms? Bathrooms?

This "mission" is so unimportant that Bush and his overrich friends can't see fit to fight for it themselves. In fact, they're trying to vote themselves another tax cut.

5. Mission Accomplished...
... the foundations for peace are already there. Only the US withdrawal remains for peace to arrive.

VICTORY!

7. Bush was talking about how people didn't expect democracy to
be viable in Japan. Let us not forget it was neocons & hawks who insisted the ME was not capable of democracy back in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s - way after parts of Africa were trying it out.

Also - Bush just wrapped & wrapped & wrapped his war in WWII.

9. I enjoyed the Bin Ladin quote, myself.....

Something about how Americans run away and forget they are world leaders, when the going gets tough. Referring to either Somalia and/or The Cole.
Both of which responses were due to Republican actions, IMO.

But you're right, he rolled Iraq into WWII so many times I thought he was making a burrito.

(edit grammar)

8. Adding words to lower the goal, like past. processed cheese food
Have you noticed that the more words added to the name, the further from cheese a cheese product becomes? Cheese. Processed Cheese. Pasturized Processed Cheese. Pasturized Processed Cheese Food is hardly cheese at all.

Bush goes from WMD stockpiles, to WMD factories, to WMD programs, to the potential for WMD programs.

Same with Bush and democracy and peace. Now its the foundation to build a democracy and peace.
