One nation - Two Countries
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 10:33 PM by pstans
This is a great story written by Rep. Jim McDermott. It is right to the point about Bu$h is a divider, not a uniter and is attacking the working American.

The President, rested after five weeks of paid vacation, returns to the White House with new data showing so much is up under his Administration.

Gasoline prices are up, dramatically. Oil Company profits are up, obscenely. And Americans know the sky is the limit in other important economic indicators as well. Bankruptcies are up. Poverty is up. And the number of uninsured Americans is way up.

The President is turning America into a two country nation, one where the rich can afford $3 a gallon gas because they own the pump, and one where the vast majority of Americans can’t work enough hours or enough jobs to make ends meet.

The middle class existed in the year 2000. If this President has his way, we will witness the fastest extinction in history of an entire economic class.

1. Wasn't this Edwards line until Kerry told him to shut up?
Too much like "class warfare" don't you know...

2. It's time for a little class warfare. If a millionaire senator or two
or fifty gets caught in the crossfire, then so be it.

3. Did it before, with the tax system
One nation does not have to work. Not much. Lives off investments and inherited estates neither is - or will not be - taxed much.

The other nation is composed of wage earners, for many the payroll taxes are higher than the income ones, that were cut by Bush.

One nation will continue to increase its value with less and less taxes on the estates that will continue to grow and passed tax free from one generation to the next, and with investments where the capital gains will continue to decline.

The other nation will see its value shrinking every year.
