Rep. Kirk (R-IL): "Don't wait for permission" if you want to aid directly
If there is any more certain admission that FEMA and the feds have become nothing but a bottleneck, Republican congressman Mark Kirk of Illinois's tenth district is telling people "don't wait for permission" from FEMA if they want to aid hurricane victims directly.

1. Once again........
it's NOT FEMA's FAULT. It's george bush's fault for what he DID to FEMA. The rank and file FEMA employees are not to be blamed for this calamity. They're only as good as the people leading them, and we can now painfully see how good that is. The reason FEMA failed is because the "failure in chief" gutted it, privatized it and crammed it into that OTHER gigantic cluster-fuck, "Homeland Security".
FEMA was once a battle tested, efficient organization during the Clinton years. The Republicans used it as a giant ATM payback machine for their supporters and sycophants.
Blame bush and his appointees, not FEMA itself! I would HATE for the employees of FEMA to be tainted by the inaction of their bosses.

2. If you say so. But who really knows?
I suggest that if the rank and file FEMA feel betrayed by political appointees, they TELL somebody. Now would be in the "better late than never" category.
