I'm scared- feeling hopeful about administration meeting it's end, but... |

I've been feeling very hopeful that out of the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, that finally the American People will wake up, and see these lying bastards for what they are, but I'm very scared, too. The latest opinion polls, and the fact that for the first time the media is actually criticizing the administration are both giving me hope. But I remember that last time I had hope- right before the 2004 election, when all the polls showed Kerry leading Bush, and then the night of the election exit polls showing a clear Kerry win. And then poof...Bush won, the election polls, for the first time in American history were "incorrect", and all of a sudden, things were worse than ever. Nothing has changed that I can see, the media is still owned by the same corrupt corporations, the Republicans still control the government, not enough Democrats are on the attack, so really, long term- can we expect any good to come out of this tragedy?

I'm a big fan of TJ. However, when those words were written the balance of power between the common citizen and the government/military/business interest was much more equal. Weapons were simple muskets, rifles and cannons that anyone with the materials and skills could make and operate. Farmer Fergus and Storekeeper Silas were on more equal footing economic power-wise. Today, the corporations can squash anyone like a bug, and I seem to have forgotten where I parked my personal B-1.

If we can't regain control of at least the House in '06, I don't think there's much hope. And, because they cheat, we have to beat them by at least 20% to be assured they can't steal it again.

you are not alone. Plus you can imagine how meticulous and fierce Democratic election monitors will be in the elections to come. Just think about it - some GOP creep tries to intimidate you when you vote and you are ready & loaded with your response.
Imagine that 75 Million times on one day - 2006.
Plus it isn't that you are in the world that you want to be in - things really have changed. It is that you are on the right journey. So you can accept that things are really "goofy" to put it mildly. But you - you are not lost.
