Cheney quip adds fuel to Katrina politics

RAW STORY

On Saturday, Vice President Dick Cheney became the latest high profile official to offer a soundbite about Hurricane Katrina, saying all evacuees he's met have been 'thankful,' adding to a spate of comments raising eyebrows regarding the Katrina disaster, RAW STORY has found.

According to Reuters, Cheney's words were in response to reporters' questions about what evacuees had had to say to the Vice President as he toured the Austin convention centre in the wake of the demotion of FEMA director Michael D. Brown, who initially had been in charge of the federal relief efforts:

"Not one of them mentioned any of it. They're all very thankful where they find themselves right now."

Wow! Is this guy even a little believable? A new atrocity every day.

They didn't mention it. Oh well. Sweep the elephant in the living room under the rug. And then look for WMDs there.
Or some such stupidity.

3. Cheney speaking like the proud Nazi Dictator he is.
I guess he's quite proud of the disaster and ruination of New Orleans he crafted and created.

4. Yes, Katrina ripped my boat apart (which is also my home)
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 11:36 AM by tinfoilinfor2005
but I am thankful that it didn't sink it and I still have a place to live. And whether or not my insurance or fema helps with the thousands of dollars worth of damage, I'm still grateful that we lived through it. And I'm grateful that I was only in Katrina's path when she was a category one down in the Florida Keys, instead of meeting her category four winds in La.

But is that what should be concerning mr. cheney? How lucky and grateful the survivors are? I would think his main focus would be trying to give them assistance...maybe pulling some of his big strings to see that they get some money today, instead of having to continue to stand in long lines for the next week or two or three or ten. These people have just lost all sense of priority.

6. So sorry!
About your home.

Now that you mention it. How would he know they are grateful to be 'where they are' if they did not mention it? Mind reader I guess.

This is a huge operation. The more the pasty boys interfere the worse it will be. I wish they would just butt out. I think we need to urge the Senate to take over. These bozos are obviously incapable of riding a bike, much less a rescue and rebuild mission of this magnitude.

7. Somebody must have asked them,
"Why do you hate Murrka?" And they became shame-faced and tried to make it up by saying how they'd sure "landed on ther feet".
