Bush works to find footing
Poll: Most disapprove of Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Facing a new round of polls showing mixed reviews of his handling of Hurricane Katrina, President Bush rolled up his sleeves and toured the most storm-wrecked parts of the Gulf Coast region Monday.

Bush slept overnight on an amphibious assault ship that's serving as a control center in the relief effort and received a point-by-point briefing of on-the-ground recovery efforts. Aides compared him to a wartime general inspecting the troops on the front line of battle.

To be sure, Bush looked different Monday than the man who visited New Orleans on September 2 and fondly recalled his wild nights in the French Quarter. Or the man who sought to cheer homeless storm victims in Mississippi by sharing his hopes to join Sen. Trent Lott on the front porch of his "fantastic" new waterfront house. Or the man who turned to embattled FEMA Director Michael Brown in the early days after the storm and said, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job."

Following two weeks consumed by 24-hour coverage of Katrina's wake, the president who honed his leadership credentials in the aftermath of 9/11 is now struggling to find his footing amid bipartisan claims that neither he, nor his administration, has responded adequately to the hurricane.

1. It's nice to see the MSM talk about Bush's different 'personas'.
It's quite a change from 2000 when all we heard about was Al Gore's different 'personas'. This is the real Bush. A weak, opportunistic, coward, crapbag.

7. God Damn It! Just be yourself! If you're not acting, it not so hard!
Why, oh Why does every politician think they need an adviser to tell them how to react to a crisis or just an everyday event? If you rely upon yourself you know how to react! Let's get back to the real politician who can react without checking back with opinion central next time. Okay, voters? I really just want a leader with a brain. Is that too much to ask?

10. New Round Of Polls Showing MIXED (?????) Reviews?????????????
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 07:50 PM by Beetwasher
Uhh, it's hardly mixed. It's overwhelmingly NEGATIVE for Chimpy.

The spin of this article is incredible. How they euphamize. They would have NEVER have hesitated calling Gore or Clinton two faced and phony for this sort of behavior. Well, actually, they'd have "strategists" commenting about how this behavior looks phony. Not for Chimpy though!

"But there are some signs in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll that Bush may have turned a corner."

And this my friends is why I can say, without any hesitation whatsoever, that Gallup and CNN are bought and paid for whores.

Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 07:49 PM by rocknation
If you need your memory refreshed, he went into a classroom to read a book after being informed the first tower was struck, sat like a stone after being informed the second tower was struck, and spent the next three days flying all over the country!
