Yesterday here in Minneapolis and St. Paul we had our mayoral primaries in both cities. RT Rybak in Minneapolis beat his closest competitor by 10 percent. RT is a progressive democrat. Randy Kelly a "democrat" came in a distant 2nd to his challenger...I believe he lost by 12 percent. Oddly enough Randy Kelly made a big day of endorsing the Idiot Frat Boy in 2004. Just now on the news they asked him if he thought that may have had anything to do with it. I think the times might just be a changing.

We too had a "progressive" Dem win a primary yesterday over "mainstream" Dems. Now, the challenge is not only to win the General but to keep "progressive heat" on the nominee...
That's not a comment on this particular individual, btw, who seems quite genuine, but on the general state of affairs and entropic tendency of almost all Pols to grow timid in office.
...on edit, sorry, meant this to be in response to OP, not that you don't seem happy to hear such news too :) .
