Solution for Iraq: Draw down, garrison , train. |
|
Now that we are there...
Here's is a plan to make it secure yet prudent for America.
Stop the nationwide patrols, the initiatives against cities and towns. ...... Draw down: reduce troop size significantly.
Garrison: old Roman model for occupation- heavily fortified garrisons.
Train: The draw back from Iraq wide exposure of American troops will be taken up Iraqi's. it is their country.
.......... This is not the same as a complete pull out. The difference is in a few loci if US garrisons for training and much less US boots on the ground to irritate and serve as targets for the insurgents.

let's advocate a policy that puts politics ahead of doing the right thing for our country and for the Iraqi people ... let's continue to endorse bush's corporate agenda ... let's let our fears of how those mean old republicans will brand us determine how we make our choices ...
and if you really want to put politics ahead of policy, and your post suggests you do, explain to me the wisdom of pushing a position that is NOT SUPPORTED by a majority of Americans ...
the "weak on defense" argument is exactly the trap the timid Democrats are falling into ... when will they understand that being tough doesn't mean being pro war; it means telling the American people what you deeply believe is the right thing to do and then fighting like hell for those beliefs ...
can anyone honestly believe Democrats are being perceived by the American people as defining the right policy (55% support immediate withdrawal and Democrats do NOT!!) or that, even if they're wrong, Democrats are "fighting like hell" for their beliefs ... we truly have a party of wrong-thinking spineless cowards ...
it is time for the US to abandon bush's imperial goals in Iraq and it is way past the time for Democrats to make the case against him ... you wanna look tough; you gotta be tough ...

7. Policy in front of politics: |
|
My concern is if we pull out all at once Iraq will be over run by the jihadists who have now come in to fill the void left after saddam fell. It may not be good policy. thoughts?
