1. And what's the diff between a "press briefing" or a "press gaggle" ??

2. Well it's like this....
A briefing is when the WH spokesman tries to be as brief as possible without answering any questions directly.

A gaggle is when the WH spokesman informally "shoots the shit" with everyone but reporters are gagged because everything is off the record.

Either way nothing is officially answered. At least that's my take on it.

3. I go here to listen to them,

(Speaking of which...I was just about to start a diary asking for everyone to continue to send words of support to David Gregory's bosses at NBC. He has not let up for one second on bringing up questions we want asked.)

5. I agree - David Gregory deserves continued 'atta boys' - I've also been
sending to Helen Thomas, bless her heart.

Really?

I'll have to go check now, but those 'gaggles' have had their transcripts posted haven't they? So how can everything be 'off the record'?

Yeah, see? Here's the transcript from a 'gaggle'
Press Gaggle by Scott McClellan
Aboard Air Force One
En route Andrews Air Force Base
4:12 P.M. EDT

OH..NOW I GET IT... IT APPEARS THAT GAGGLES HAPPEN WHEN THEY'RE ALL AWAY FROM THE OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE BRIEFING ROOM - like on Air Force One, or in Crawfor. If you check on all the 'gaggles' - it looks like that's the difference:

Kinda dumb -
