2. Yes, but it's temporary
and part of our plan to lull them into complacencey.

3. I wish it was so.
The level of hatred is simply too high and the divisions too wide. Even in a unity thread, I've had to deal with further vicious and false attacks. People are being blinded by this hatred and losing all touch with reality.

6. Put things into perspective -
much of the division here is due to infiltration, imo. After the primaries the rules change, and they'll have to follow the rules or be expelled.

It's amazing what a handful of disruptors can do to a community of thousands, but it will pass.

5. I will support whoever wins the nomination.

I'm pro Clark. I see all the bickering here. I'ts a healthy part of the debate, and there are alot of frustrated democrats here. However, I do think the overwhelming sentiment here is that dubya's gotta go. In the end, it wiil pull the party back together. Still would love to see a Clark/Dean, Dean/Clark ticket. You get both grass roots organizations and alot of credibility with this ticket.

7. Not really
...And it's not like they're been trying very hard.

You know, when someone attacks my candidate (Dean) I expect it. Not everyone likes it when I attack another candidate and they may take it personally (too bad).

So we are all bickering that so-and-so candidate isn't liberal enough. You think that gives ammo to the Republicans? I think not.

8. I don't believe that the right is controlling us
I pretty much ignore their "please nominate so-and-so" and other comments. Frankly, I think it makes them look scared. And they should be wary since we have a strong field of candidates.

9. another vast rightwing conspiracy...
people dont agree with taking less than your best horse into the race, and suddenly its the republican's fault.

this is a democracy, not a cheerocracy... people get to vote - and if we as a party decide to take ourselves down a poorly considered road then we cant sit around and complain that somehow we're victims.

Whomever is the democratic candidate - we have ourselves to thank/blame.

10. The heat in GD/GD04P may be a local phenomenon
You can't put fans of opposing teams into the same place without plenty of interaction, sometimes in fun, sometimes not in fun, somtimes downright bloody...

Although this is the first time I've been involved on the web where things seem to have been boiling since early summer, the dems on the street don't seem any more divided than other times they've had a big initial field of candidates.

11. Actually you are right. There is DU, and then there's the real world
This came into stark reality when I started watching polls outside of here recently. It puts frikkin LIEBERMAN right behind Dean as the Democrats pick. Not Clark, Not Kerry, not Gep. Lieberman, whose support on DU is about equal to support for free booze in Utah.

12. the only divide and conquer strategy i see working is dean's
Edited on Tue Dec-23-03 03:59 PM by bearfartinthewoods
howard brush dean the third's attempt to cleve the party into the clinton people and the dean people.

"For a year, Dean's campaign has made it very clear that the enemies are not just conservatives. They also permeate the Democratic Party, and they must be crushed as permanently as the right-wingers. He tells his followers that they have the power not only to "take back" the country but to take back the party as well."

nothing divisive about that eh????

its working better than they could have hoped for and with hardly any effort on their part. Amazing what a few internet contributions can do.
