Bush battling to climb out of popularity slump

By Steve Holland

The strategy for getting his groove back, aides say, is to narrow his focus and tackle head-on those three top priorities -- hurricane recovery, Iraq and energy -- and set aside for now other items like Social Security and tax reform that he had expected to spend the fall on.

But all three priorities carry their own risks and challenges, with the cost of rebuilding New Orleans straining the U.S. budget and causing consternation among conservatives, American casualties rising in Iraq and gas prices showing no signs of dropping to pre-hurricane levels.

The strategy, said a senior administration official, is to "stay focused on what we're trying to accomplish and recognize that some of that is going to take some time to change."

"Doing his job has always been his strongest suit," said one adviser close to the White House. "Let Bush be Bush. Let him lead. It's what Bush does in times like these."

5. Yes, that is the one true objective of the Bush junta...
Enrichment of the super-rich, impoverishment of everyone else.

3. was "doing his job" ever even remotely Bush's strong suit?
let alone "has always been".

How can that be the strong suit if he set the record for vacations?

7. Bush being Bush has begotten all the disasters we have visited upon
our nation by supporting these disasters in numbers too large to fathom, all the while most of the MSM shills and the Congress votes in near lockstep for nearly his every whim.

8. It appears his main job is..........
bankrupting the country. Where is the money coming from to "fix" New Orleans, "stay the course" in Iraq and "deform" Social Security. bush will not give in on any of these items but the cupboard is bare, he's spent our grand children's money already. He certainly won't "raise" taxes by not making his idiotic tax cuts for the rich permanent, he won't give in on the "estate" tax, poor Paris Hilton NEEDS another Chalet in Switzerland that she's done nothing to deserve other than be born into the right family.
So it all goes on the company credit card, and foreign countries will continue to buy OUR country at bargain basement prices. His pals continue to raid the Treasury by scarfing up all of those fat, no-bid contracts and the percentage of Americans falling headlong into poverty continues year after year during his administration. No wonder that the number of millionaires in our country is increasing exponentially, the GOP is BUYING control of this country backed by their Corporate Masters.
bush and his god-damned "legacy". That's all he cares about and if he can't raise his popularity numbers his "legacy" is going to be in the shitter. Hell, his legacy will be in the shitter anyway but it's amazing how history is re-written by the "winners". This fucking asshole should resign for the good of the country. We've been cursed since he was fist appointed by the SC and it isn't going to get any better in the next three years.

9. Here's three "oldies but goodies" he might want to consider:
1) Huge tax cuts to pay back his campaign contributors.
2) Let big business regulate itself
3) Do nothing about the problems with our health care system.

There, that oughta get his poll numbers right back up to 58%.
