What organized "Katrina Commission Now!" campaigns are out there? |
|
moveon.org had a "we are not prepared" ad come out a couple weeks ago and is now having people sign a petition against the Republican spending cuts. but no real "DEMAND A KATRINA COMMISSION" grassroots campain
the dnc (democrats.org) has link on their homepage that links to a story from September 19 to how Democrats are fighting for an independent commission but no grassroots action network, etc.
I am a bit disappointed in this, I would think there would be an attempt ot better organize the outcry over this.
Are the Delay, Frist, etc. scandals detracting from focusing on the Katrina debacle?

1. Alas, I've wondered this myself |
|
The awful truth is that the poor black people of N.O. cannot command the attention that can be obtained by white, middle and upper middle class people. Cindy Sheehan is white, Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson are white, go down the list. I am NOT saying that Cindy, Valerie and Joe don't deserve attention. Their causes are just and I support them. But no one seems to be taking up the cause for the poor of N.O. and they can't do it themselves because they have to get their lives back together again. It is such a shame.
Well, folks, what can we do? Can we be a part of the solution here?
