My take is that she could eat puppies at every meal and the Democrats would find some excuse to let her in. I don't know if it really does us any good to go through the game of trying to fight her when our leaders don't care and will let her through no matter what. Roberts supported the detention of American citizens without trial or rights. His wife is a high level employee in an organization whose leader advocates killing doctors. Roberts felt equal pay for women and the endangered species act were unconstitutional. No problem. Their track record at fighting Bush is Bush:100, Democrats:0.

I still think its the best shot at defeating her, though. Not only does she not have any experience as a judge, she has very little experience arguing cases before higher courts. Most of her work has been advisory or paperwork shuffling.

They did agreed not to filibuster candidates that weren't "extreme", i believe that was the word. Extreme as judged by the seven republicans signing the compromise. Is Miers extreme? We know that Joe McCarthy wouldn't meet the extreme test by many Republicans. It would be interesting to know who the Republicans would consider extreme. Hitler? No. Michael Moore? Yep.
