Poll question: Will Miers be confirmed?
My take is that she could eat puppies at every meal and the Democrats would find some excuse to let her in. I don't know if it really does us any good to go through the game of trying to fight her when our leaders don't care and will let her through no matter what. Roberts supported the detention of American citizens without trial or rights. His wife is a high level employee in an organization whose leader advocates killing doctors. Roberts felt equal pay for women and the endangered species act were unconstitutional. No problem. Their track record at fighting Bush is Bush:100, Democrats:0.

6. Thats why Bush brought up Rhenquist this morning
and the whole "we have had many Justices with no experience as a judge" bit.

I still think its the best shot at defeating her, though. Not only does she not have any experience as a judge, she has very little experience arguing cases before higher courts. Most of her work has been advisory or paperwork shuffling.

11. Very funny, "Our guys will fight her and stop her." You do have a sense of
humor. Some of our "guys" don't even fight. Some fight then cave. Didn't you know that the Demo's (our guys) are saving it for something special? Like when the Repug take away their parking spots.

wanting someone more evil. If the Demo's vote for her to prevent worse, they may be stuck with her (another unqualified Bush crony)for an eternity.

13. Its not that hard a question....They have 55 senate votes...Once they kill
the filibuster, they can push her through with 50 votes. Of course she'll be confirmed. Unless you know of some miraculous way to detach 6 Republicans from the Bush teat and keep all 45 Dems/Jeffords in line.

Unless something REALLY major comes out it is a total impossibility to stop her.

32. You're surprised by his arrogance? After 5 years, I'm just surprised
he didn't appoint Jeb. Nothing these freaks do surprises me. They don't care how they look because he's never riunning for re-election. Credentials? So what. I've got 55 Republican senators licking my butt-I don't need no stinkin' credentials!

And she's certainly not pro-choice. CNN has already uncovered a $150 donation to an anti-abortion group in 1989.

35. He's the firstest son of Poppy and Barb....He's the Golden Child....
the Dauphin....He can do no wrong. He was brought up in a privilidged atmosphere. Poppy's influence got him into the very best prep schools and colleges because it has his birthright. Everytime he failed at business, Poppy's friends rushed in and he wound up back on top.

Of course he's arrogant. He really thinks he's a superior specimen of humanity. And that's just sad.

The absolute opposite.

Bush is petty, arrogant, deceptive, boastful, vengeful, treacherous, prevaricating, greedy, self absorbed and uncaring. Bush is the opposite of Christianity, no matter what he says.

She brings nothing to the table. Unlike Roberts, who was an undeniable legal scholar and made-for-primetime nominee, Miers has never done anything noteworthy in her career except kiss Dubya's ass. She doesn't even have the support of the die-hard Bush-sucking wingnuts out in Freeperville. If ever there was a nominee who could be filibustered, it's Miers.

20. When you say filibustered you didn't mean by the Demo's did you?
They made a deal, they promised not to filibuster for... for... saving their bathroom privileges. Sorry if i sound bitter. They did agreed not to filibuster candidates that weren't "extreme", i believe that was the word. Extreme as judged by the seven republicans signing the compromise. Is Miers extreme? We know that Joe McCarthy wouldn't meet the extreme test by many Republicans. It would be interesting to know who the Republicans would consider extreme. Hitler? No. Michael Moore? Yep.

26. This will be a repeat of Roberts
we will hear the same shit over about how because Miers has no "paper trail" that she should be confirmed, and our members in Congress, just like they have for the last five years, will confirm her because if they don't, then Rush, Hannity, and Coulter will scream at the top of their lungs about how they are "obstructionist."

They caved like little cowards - except some of ours. I'm proud of my CA Senators.

Now, we are working harder than they are for the Democratic Party. We should ask the Roberts-supporting Democrats for a salary for our time.

But how can we get momentum when Reid is making overtures? I sure hope he's lulling the Repukes into something. I strongly support a filibuster - even more than I did with Roberts.

For now, I'll say she'll be confirmed. :-(
