CNN: Miers donated to anti-abortion group
Harriet Miers gave $150 donation in 1989 to a Texas-based group opposed to abortion rights, the group confirmed to CNN. Miers was a Dallas City Council woman at the time.

Kyleen Wright, president of Texans for Life, which was called "Texans United for Life" in 1989, says that although she appreciates the donation, she's "not convinced" that it means that Miers is a committed opponent to abortion rights.

Wright confirms that then-city councilwoman Harriet Miers made a $150 donation to the organization in 1989 and was listed as a "bronze patron" in the program for the group's annual dinner, keynoted by GOP Rep. Henry Hide of Illinois.

There were three donation levels (gold patron - $2500, silver was $1250, bronze was $150); and Miers gave the minimum needed to get a mention in the program.

Wright on the donation: "It was a very nice gift. We're grateful to all of our donors. but as for whether this means that she's committed to our issues, I'm not convinced. I'm hopeful, but I'm not convinced." she added "I don't know what it says about her."

Wright attend the 1989 fundraising dinner and says she does not remember whether Miers actually attended or was just listed in the program.

"if she were there, she would have been one of about 2 dozen office holders and candidates who gave at the bronze level. she was probably recognized and asked to stand."

Wright has been actively involved with the group since the mid-1980s and during that time, she is not aware of Miers having a close or active relationship with the organization. She could not find any evidence of other gifts, contributions, or involvement that Miers had with the group.

Wright: "I don't kmow of any association with her beyond this. She may have been friends with someone on the board at the time, but I'm not aware of it. . . . None of us know her."

1. That's a great one! She can't duck that question.
At least not using the same logic that Roberts used to not answer *anything*

2. Gee, Ms. Wright, tell us
How many "bronze" level donors do you have that aren't opposed to a woman's right to her own body?

Lying is against the Ten Commandments, you know.

4. Giving cash doesn't mean you are necessarily with the anti choice
crowd? I don't think so. Money usually means you are on board.
