Does it seem like the puppetmasters are hanging him out to
dry? Is it just me or does it seem like he's being hung out there, blowing in the wind, without a soul to prop him up?

1. He has no soul to prop up!
Oh, that's not what you meant.

But it's what I meant! LOL!

9. He is just hollow - nothing manly about him at all.
He is what Karl and Dick tell him to be. And he's so dumb/doped up/drunk he can't do that very well either.

If I Only Had A Brain

Author: George Mann

(Dubya)
I’d read poetry for hours, circulate in ivory towers
Know Mexico from Spain
I would say it very bluntly Africa is not a country
If I only had a brain

I would postulate and lecture but not make false conjecture
Correctly pronounce names
They would let me get my war on and no one would call me “moron”
If I only had a brain

Oh I cannot deny that the world thinks I’m a boor
But listen while I tell you what’s in store
We’re gonna bomb and bomb some more

(Dick)
I wouldn’t kill Iraqi children and terrorize civilians
Pretend that war is art
I would be a good neighbor not keep rattling my saber
If I only had a heart

Though my veins are full of oil and my greedy hands are soiled
I could make a brand new start
I’d love Saddam and his mama like I used to love Osama
If I only had a heart

Picture me, big Dick Cheney
With a heart that’s full of gold
And a conscience that cannot be bought or sold
Too hard to see? Well good for me!

(Duet for Dubya and Dick)
We will trample world opinion and confirm it’s our dominion
If we only bomb Iraq
We’ll turn cities into rubble there will be no more trouble
If we only bomb Iraq

6. of course they are ...
the masses are squawking a bit too much ... a recession is coming, the war in Iraq is insane and going badly, we've had a bazillion years of republican control ...

the game is to repress us as far as they dare and then "give in a little" when they sense the slightest stirrings of an awakening ... that's where we're at now ...

the good news is that bush is being taken down ... he's being recalled like a product that has become defective ... Democrats will reap some benefit as the pendulum is allowed to swing back our way just a little ...

the bad news is that the Democratic Party lingers in a comatose state ... the Party will not empower and lead a visionary movement for change ... we will eek out an electoral victory or two and feel oh so good ... we will think the crumbs swept off their table are tonight's entree ...

bush isn't the problem; we are ...

16. ** isn't the problem; we are ...
I'm afraid you are right, terrier. The string-pullers know that we are restless and looking too closely at the curtain. They thrive on stability, keeping us barefoot and pregnant, unable to muster the resources or the energy to challenge the status quo.

Unless we are able to shine a light on the whole sordid mess--from election frauds, to 9-11, to the Afghanistan pipelines (oil, gas, and heroin), to the profit mines of wars and natural disasters, to secret renditions and mockingbirds and labor deals and. . . the players may change, but the conditions will not.

There are forces at work now, though, that even the string-pullers cannot control. Climate change is here for the long haul. Even if we were to cut back today on all greenhouse gases, we could not reverse the damage or refreeze the poles. When the birds and the bees are gone, whether through loss of habitat or food or pesticides or "culling," we are gone, too. Or most of us are.

At this point, we do need to recognize the true terror, salvage what we can, learn from these disasters and put our collective wisdom in jars in a deep, dry cave somewhere in the hope that those who survive can create a future community wiser than ours has been.

I know this sounds defeatist. I do not feel that way. I just think it is time for us to acknowledge that we cannot escape our history. Even on these boards I see no evidence that the majority are willing to look the monster in the eye. Most are rather looking for a Savior, or as you say, they would be happy with a few crumbs.

7. fits my theory that corp bride has shifted her affection to DLC
which is why most Dems are so careful about how they criticize the war.

It's like someone auditioning to be the new defense attorney for a celebrity murderer.

"The way the defense has been handling the trial is reprehensible. What? No, I cannot discuss whether the accused did it..."

11. He may be the bone they throw to Fitzgerald.
But I'm not sure they think that time has arrived yet. I suspect Fitz is getting inquiring phone calls as we speak, as they try to feel out the playing field. As it sounds like perhaps Plame was discussed at very high levels, this has the potential of cracking open their ranks as they scramble for some form of political innoculation.

Fascinating news time.

13. The aspens have turned
but Scooter was talking just about trees. More likely it was a reference to a meeting last month is Aspen Colorado, that folks like Judy like to hobnob at.

Rove showed up and said a lot of bizarre things. Apparently, he was not 'well received'.

15. More like bashing - bashing Bush
It seems that Libby may have been referring to this group of people meeting in ASPEN, not a grove of trees.

Bashing Bush in Aspen

Sep 22, 2005
by Robert Novak

ASPEN, Colo. -- For two full days, George W. Bush was bashed. He was taken to task on his handling of stem cell research, population control, the Iraq war and, especially, Hurricane Katrina. The critics were no left-wing bloggers. They were rich, mainly Republican and presumably Bush voters in the last two presidential elections.

The Bush-bashing occurred last weekend at the annual Aspen conference sponsored by the New York investment firm Forstmann Little & Co. Over 200 invited guests, mostly prestigious, arrived Thursday night (many by private aircraft) and stayed until Sunday morning for more than golf, hikes and gourmet meals. They faithfully attended the discussions presided over by PBS's Charlie Rose on such serious subjects as "global poverty and human rights" and "the 'new' world economy." The connecting link was hostility to President Bush.

"All discussions are off the record," admonished the conference's printed schedule. Consequently, I will refrain from specifically quoting panelists and audience members. But the admonition says nothing about personal conversations outside the sessions. Nor do I feel inhibited in quoting myself. Even if I am violating the spirit of secrecy rules, revealing criticism of Bush by this elite group, and the paucity of defense for him, is valuable in reflecting the president's parlous political condition.

The Forstmann Little Aspen Weekend is made possible by the generosity of Theodore J. Forstmann, a doughty supporter of supply-side economics and longtime contributor to the Republican Party. Invited guests are drawn from government, diplomacy, politics, the arts, entertainment and journalism.

19. He is no longer electable- he's had his run
it's time to look to the future. if in the process the shrub legacy is damaged-small price to pay. The boy got his dads jib, he made many mistakes- but the agenda of the power elite viz a viz Aspen crowd, for example, does not change. they will find another spokes model.

Perhaps a preppy this time? The cowboy emperor routine is worn thin.

But the big guys who run things? Well, they have places to rule, money to make, power to grab---hell, a world to shape.
