CNN reports a connection between the NY alert and Iraq.
The Pentagon says that an operation near Bagdad was the result of the same intelligence that led to today's brouhaha. So W may finally have his justification for invading a country that posed no serious threat to the US. Frankly, I smell a rat. The timing of this along with the connection to Iraq is exactly what I would expect from Rove as he goes down for the third (or in this case, the fourth) time.
Get ready folks. As the prospects dim for this criminal gang, the defense moves they make are going to be unprecedented, ugly and fascistic.

6. Maybe now but...
what does anything they uncover now in Baghdad have to do with why we invaded. Those people threatening us weren't in Iraq then.

10. It doesn't. But it will be used by these lying SOB's to
bolster support for the war by making the case that our efforts over there thwarted a potential attack on the homeland. Never mind that without the invasion the threat would have been unlikely to occur.

9. war in Iraq = greater domestic threats
and so we should keep fighting in Iraq because ... ??????

if bush wants to argue that the war in Iraq is making us less safe domestically, he'll get no argument from me ... of course, that seems like the perfect reason to end the war; NOT continue it ...

14. anything to get more money . I hate these people

The Senate is ready to give President Bush $50 billion more for wars, even as public support for the Iraq fighting slips, the number of U.S. casualties climbs and Congress grows frustrated by the conflict's direction. The money, part of a $445 billion military spending bill for the budget year that began Oct. 1, would pay for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. It would push the war total beyond $350 billion since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
