I've never really heard such horse hockey in my life! I don't know much about it, but I'm dying to read what Bush had to say on the subject! (If they're all going to be rising into the heavens, I want to know when NOT to look up!)

However, you got off easy--I'm singing the '99 Bottles of Beer' song in the lounge (it was to celebrate my 99th post)!

And I really DO have some Ore-Ida crinkle cuts in the freezer!

11. It's somewhere on these pages...
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/jesus/president/spirituality.html

It was either this Frontline or maybe on another specifically about rapturing; I'm not gonna read thru all this just to find it for you, but I heard his views on the subject on a PBS Frontline program.

14. The ideal of ''The Rapture'' is pure
american religion at its best. It ranks up there with the Mormon beliefs that the founder of the latter day saints re-wrote the bible after seeing a stone book and it had to be read with special stone glasses, neither of which has been seen or heard from again. The Rapture is the southern baptists ideal of what will happen when Armageddon begins.

The SB's believe god will take them to heaven, along with their cars and wealth (after all Peter charges a heavy fee to admit them into heaven)so nothing bad happens to them. The reason I say its pure american is for the simple reason that older religious sects never said a thing about the Rapture. After years of study and research the southern baptists are the only sect that says anything about the rapture. There is a thing called rapture dealing with the dark ages, but that was caused from self punishment for hours.

The religious fanatics were said to go into a rapture like trance from whipping their backs with floggers for hours, we know now that was caused from endorphin over dose. The repuke party appeals to SB's mainly because repukes say pretty much the same thing as SB's as far as welfare and pulling yourself up by your own boot straps.

Funny foot note is the SB's were the ones that sued the science teacher in the 1920's for teaching evolution. after that the SB's went into seclusion until they resurfaced in the late 60's and people had pretty much forgotten their law suit. Since 1979 the SB's have been the strongest base for the repuke party. Reagan was able to tap into them with the help of a little known aide, GW bush who's daddy was running for VP along side Reagan.
