Democrats Reject Crony Tax Cuts, Stand With Americans
The Democratic Leadership and The DNC are striking back at the “immoral and financially irresponsible” budget proposed by Republicans. "It is despicable that the Republican Leadership in Congress has decided to pile the costs of their failed fiscal leadership on the backs of our most vulnerable Americans,” said Democratic National Committee Press Secretary Josh Earnest. “Taking food and health care away from children, the elderly and the disabled is not a proposal but a slap in the face to the millions of Americans who have already been pushed deeper into poverty by the Republicans’ failed policies."

From Harry Reid, “For the next five weeks, Republicans have decided we should focus on cutting health care funding for the sick and elderly….On cutting education funding for our students….And on cutting housing and food assistance funding for those who need it most.”

Of course, Republicans will be arguing that all of this is justified in the name of fiscal discipline. But these are the same people that have brought us the largest deficits and debt increases in this nation’s history. The same people who have voted for trillions in additional tax cuts and hundreds of billions for Iraq – without batting an eye about the fact that none of this spending was offset. And the same people who would like to move forward on another round of expensive tax breaks.”

Nancy Pelosi responded to Dennis Hastert's ridiculous attempt to blame Democrats for Republican budgets saying,

"Republicans have squandered the largest budget surplus in American history and continue to put forth fiscally irresponsible budgets. Their latest proposal would actually increase the deficit by $20 billion dollars, increase tax cuts for their cronies, and cut critical programs used by Hurricane Katrina and Rita survivors.

"Republicans need to get serious about the budget; it is a statement of values as a nation. Republicans refused to join Democrats in supporting pay-as-you-go budgeting to share the sacrifices that must be made. It is unacceptable for Republicans to cut taxes for their cronies, paid for on the backs of the middle-class, working Americans.

"Together, America can do better. Democrats will continue to stand with Katrina and Rita survivors, veterans, students, and working families struggling to pay for gas and home heating oil, medical care, and other basic needs."

1. Backbone - just what I wanted them to say.
Now, if the MSM would just report that they are saying it, I would be amazed.

:wow:

5. If only some of our own people would repeat THEIR words
Instead of idiotic crap like "backbone" that perpetuates THAT stereotype instead of the message we're trying to send. Maybe you could have done like I did, pick out a phrase like "stand with Americans", and REPEAT THAT. That's how you win.

Say it over and over and over and over.

Kinda like the mean teacher that made you write something over and over
so you would never forget.

That's what the dems need - a mean teacher:spank:

:spank: :spank: :spank: Do not talk bad about dems, say something positive instead. ;)

The reason I'm NOT a teacher is because I know I have a short temper and I wouldn't want to be one of those mean teachers. So I guess I've become the mean teacher at DU instead!!

31. lol, I'm not that powerful
Anybody who isn't here either has freedom of choice or some other run-in with the moderators. I've maybe made ten posts on Dean since the primaries and you might want to recognize that I'm quoting the DNC up there. Last I checked, Dean was the chairman. I put that crap behind me a long time ago.

But in fairness, I did say "mean teacher".

25. They will if it helps them
If it doesn't play in their district, they won't. What is so hard to understand about that? In the mean time, the more WE use "crony tax cuts" to educate people about what is really going on with corporatism in this country, the more likely individual districts will be ready to hear the message, so those candidates CAN run those ads.

26. Again,
I personally haven't seen it. It may work in some cases, but Republicans attacking Democrats for "voting against tax cuts" have never gone answered by our guys. Do I hope they're able to pull it together for next year? Absolutely. But I haven't seen it up to this point.

28. Usually Democrats help them
Rural and southern Dems have not been helpful in pushing back against the "tax cut" mantra, that is absolutely true. What I'm saying is that WE finally have something to push back with, that has been proven and has resinated, "Crony Tax Cuts". That's what Republicans have really been doing when they've been promising working people tax cuts, we can educate and campaign with that. So rather than whine about what's behind us, why not push "Crony Tax Cuts", especially if one happens to live in one of these red anti-tax places. If the voters are on board, the campaign will certainly run with it. And in the long run, that's a HUGE obstacle in moving the country back to the left.

32. It's odd
Look at the stories posted on taxes. Very few of them, if any, are the Democratic response to the tax proposals. But I bet you see plenty of "where are the Democrats" in the threads. I don't know how a Democratic politician could even function with such negativity.

Language is soooo important. It can help or hurt a candidate. We've always had the right message; we just need to change the way it's delivered.

Crony tax cuts, I like it!
